Since AA/RG pull out of this route a few years back is there any hope of a return? AA's current flight routes JFK-GRU-GIG but would a separate JFK-GIG take away yields from JFK-GRU?

As per DOT reports, AA take 1/3 of their pax from GIG. If we consider that all connections will board at GRU, for sure a non-stop JFK-GIG will hurt the GRU flight, but i'm sure that will hurt all operators on this route (DL, JJ, AA, JL and even CO at EWR) as they are now fighting for the lowest fare/yield route US-Brazil (DL, JL and JJ offers good C class deals to JFK, but no one good deal for ATL or MIA).
This is a kind of non-sense as they keep 38 weekly flights New York/Newark-Sao Paulo and no one to Rio.
There are rumors about a future GIG-JFK with JJ but i'm not so confident on this. For me it's easy to see DL, if they can get more 7 flights, running a GIG-JFK (Brazil could be similar to Spain with flights from ATL/JFK to both MAD/BCN).
I don't have number for all flights, but on January 28 i have numbers for JJ flights to JFK:
