Suspicious situation shuts down Palm Beach International Airport

An investigation has put travel on hold at Palm Beach International Airport, halting commercial planes on the runway and removing passengers from portions of the terminal.

"People are in a holding pattern," said Lisa de la Rionda, an airport spokeswoman, as she arrived to the airport at about 11:15 a.m.

She said she did not know the nature of what is being investigated.

"This is a precautionary measure," she said.

Traffic coming into the airport was also halted.

The investigation continues.
