Hi there,
LH has announced on the intranet that several flights are scheduled in March as test of commercial flights. LH flights will leave from FRA to JFK. Flight are also scheduled to IAD, MUC and Hong Kong. No info regarding ORD which was originally roumored of. I'll be on apron in MUC on March 28th for some close ups of landing and taxiing. I'll let you know how good it looks from short distance!!!!

Here is a fair use excerpt from the Lufthansa press release

Lufthansa: Exclusive Airbus A380 route-proving partner
LH flights ex Frankfurt to New York, Hong Kong, Washington and Munich

13.02.07
The Airbus A380 will demonstrate its quality and operational maturity under realistic conditions for the first time on a number of scheduled flights at the end of March 2007. As innovation partners, Lufthansa and Airbus will be subjecting the megaliner, certified last December, to over a week of practical testing as part of its so-called Commercial Route Proving. A real premiere en-route is the first landing of the A380 in the USA.

On Saturday, 17 March, the super jumbo, serial number 007, will arrive in Frankfurt from Toulouse and take off with a first contingent of about 500 guests on board from Frankfurt for New York on the following Monday. Up to Wednesday, 28 March, further stops on its flight plan will be Hong Kong and Washington. At the close of its route-proving, the A380 will also make a stopover in Munich.

Good to see some route proving starting to take place and no doubt we'll be getting some good photo's uploaded in the process.

Regards, PanAm_DC10

Actually, pax will be mostly LH and Airbus emplyoees who will be testing all the systems on board: A/C, Entertainment, Galleys, etc etc. Cockpit crew will be part from LH and part from Airbus, while Cabin Crew will be all LH. LH is being involved very much with final realization of A380 project

I hope they come to LAX in a second wave of route tests, considering they plan to fly it here.

You can quote an entire press release as fair use. It is a "release"...

I throw in my  twocents  for SFO, because SFO is likely to be the first LH/A380 destination in the US.

They plan to fly the A380 to LAX and SFO, and from what I understand, they were pushing the LAX authorities to have the runways ready in time, which of course LAX didn't do, but it doesn't matter because the plane is 2 years late.

I'm sure you've seen it by now, but you can enter a lottery on the intranet for the JFK, IAD and HKG flights.

Does anyone have any idea around what time it will arrive in Frankfurt? Also, what would be the best position for some pictures of this beauty? I plan on driving up to FRA on the 17th and I'm trying to find out around what time I should plan for arrival.

Since it's on the 17th, maybe they can paint the bottom of the fuselage green so we in New England can see it contrailing overhead as it comes into JFK from Frankfurt!
