Not sure what the MCT is, but I'd allow at least 2-3 hours. I had nearly 2 hours to do a Int'l/Dom CZ-to-CZ connection thinking it's plenty of time. In the end, a slight delay, slow baggage reclaim and long checkin and security queues meant that I almost missed my flight. I had to literally sprint from one end of the airport to the other. The place is so huge, yet crowded and confusing.

According to Amadeus, standard MCT is 2 hours, interline or otherwise.

That's interesting, I got the info from my usual travel agent so it's second hand. Gotta check it with her again. Nevertheless 20 mins for domestic connection would be nothing short of a miracle in CAN!

The response from my t/a:

"You have to specify the carrier when checking MCT. If not, system will show only 1 hour and we both know that is impossible. CZ has advised us 2 hours but that should be the minimum."

Unless they can check you in for the whloe trip, you have to check-in 30-40 minutes before departure depending on airline on domestic legs. Arrival including immigration and baggage is pretty efficient at CAN, but there will be a 10 minutes walk from INT arrival to domestic check-in...Domestic check-in/security etc. is a breeze, always plenty of counters open, at least with the major airlines, CZ, CA, ZH, HU...

so, if you are already checked in, 1 hour should be enough, otherwise, allow 1,5-2 hours...

But this wouldn't be possible would it, if the connection was domestic?
how would you clear customs at your end destination??

I suspect all pax have to clear customs in CAN, then check in again??

Yeah, you have to clear custom in CAN. I'm not sure what CZ will do if the have checked you in all the way (if they are atually able to do that at all).

Anyway, even though you have to do the check-in by yourself, it's still quite a breeze. I have flown in/out of CAN ten times, even during the Canton fair, and there are hardly any lines.

Opposed to PEK and PVG, immigration, check-in and security are really efficient in CAN.
