Hi A.Net friends.

Just to update info on Gol, as today a lot of new info emerge from news:

First
-------

Gol announced (info confirmed by one of it's directors) that it keeps conversations with TAP in order to provide connections to the Portuguese airline in Brazil even this year.
Mr. Tarcisio Gargioni said that TAP was the first airline that contacted Gol in order to obtain connections, and due to this, they will grant to TAP the right to be their first one partner in code-shares.

It could explain how EZE will be connected to TP network. Also SCL, MVD, ASU, LIM, COR and ROS could be added to TP route map, not to forget the domestic destinations.

Second
-----------

Gol will upgrade effective March 15 their GIG-POA-COR and ROS routes.
COR in fact become 6x weekly while ROS, moved from GIG to BSB in order to allow COR to increase, will create another connection to their south mini-hub (POA).

As new destinations, Cabo Frio (closer to Buzios) and Sao Jose dos Campos (SJK) (Embraer HQ, GM, Gamesa, Soneca, LG, Ericson, Tactelcom, Kodak, Monsanto, Johnson & Johnson, Hitachi, Matsushita, Eaton, and one of the top 5 oil refineries in Brazil, among several other major investors, and a population of 610,000 people) will be connected to Gol network thru GIG.

A second flight Brazil-Peru non-stop will be added during the 3rd quarter.

Third
-------

Gol will receive more 15 planes during this year.

Fourth
---------

Gol runs the first 738 SFP flight to Santos Dumont Airport, downtown Rio (SDU). The 738SFP was developed by Boeing under Gol request, just to allow it's use on the busiest Brazilian domestic route, the shuttle service Rio-Sao Paulo.

Fifth
------

Rumors that GOL presented an offer for Varig: US$ 250 million. It has been rejected and a new one has been presented (US$ 300 million). Seems that LAN is also in the game with a US$ 400 million bid.

Bonus # 1
---------------

During carnival, G3 will keep two "stand-by" planes on their two main hubs: CGH and GIG

Bonus # 2
---------------

Gol begin today their flights between EZE/SCL and LIM.

Bonus # 3
---------------

Gol applied for the rights to fly LIM-MEX flights. It's awaiting the approval from ANAC but the flight is not expected during the next 4 months. G3 is working to run this flight by November only.

And just to understand how Varig is doing... a sample of their fares for the next 10 days:

Exchange rate for reference: R$ 2,10 = US$ 1,00

Well that answers my suggestion, in another thread, about TAP creating a short/medium hall fleet in GRU and/or GIG to connect Star Alliance pax to other Brazil cities and neighbour countries, since TAP, LH, United and SAA are the *A airlines flying to Brazil and with the exception of TAP, I think they only fly to GRU or/and GIG.

Lipe, thank you very much for the update on GOL operations. Some small remarks:

Quoting LipeGIG (Thread starter):

Actually since yesterday GOL is operating two daily flights to LIM, one GIG-GRU-LIM and one EZE-SCL-LIM.

Quoting LipeGIG (Thread starter):

See remark above.

Quoting LipeGIG (Thread starter):

Correct. GOL also plans to operate flights to CCS and BOG by the end of the year and is trying to work out arrangements regarding bilaterals and slots.

Actually, it seems that TAP also approached TAM in the context of the on-going negotiations between TAM and LH for FRA operations. It is now known that TAM, through LH and TAP, could finally close a deal to become member of Star Alliance. This would be a major breaktrough.

Who would be crazy enough to fly to MEX via LIM on a very squeezed 737 having only energy bars? And with no Biz on a longhaul wouldn't go loose loads of revenue.

The route would be LIM-MEX as far as I know. Also, it seems GOL knows quite well what they are doing considering their profits and success in operating routes in South America. You should never understimate GOL.

Also i have been seeing the 738 SFP very often operating this afternoon flight though.

It seems GOL built major policatil support in Peru:

http://www.panrotas.com.br/canais/re...l_reader_noticia.asp?cod_not=27550

Peruvian Minister receives first GOL flight to land in LIM. It seems GOL will make major investment in Peru.

If I got it well, the flight to Rosario shifted to BSB-POA-ROS ?

Right, and Gol was very clear, they will provide connections at all airports and not only GIG and GRU. So for TP, Gol could become a very interesting partner as they are nowadays the stronger airline not only at GIG, but also POA, CWB, REC, FLN, CNF. Gol domestic share is every month closer to Tam, and not to forget, they keep a stronger South America network with 6 daily flights to EZE, 2 to SCL, 1 to LIM, plus ROS, COR, ASU, MVD and VVI.

TAM announced they will fly 2 new international destinations this year. FRA could be one of them as we know they will receive more 2 planes till the end of the year. But i have doubt if Tam will keep 3x daily CDG flights with FRA and MXP services. I believe the 2 77W could replace 3 A332 nowadays used to CDG, allowing more flights to other destinations. Lets see the next months.

You're right. Gol will use the aircraft at GIG to improve GIG-POA-COR where they get more O&D pax to GIG than from ROS. And they will just use the aircraft nowadays flying BSB-POA to extend this flight to ROS.

MVD has 2 daily flights since past january, and i also think ASU have more than 1.

This is bad news for Manaus. We have all been speculating that Manaus may be Gol's jumping point to the United States. Miami-Lima is 2620 miles and Miami-Manaus is 2420miles. Gol may end up starting US service on Lima-Miami as Lima is a much greater traffic source than Manaus.

We could see a MAO-CUN-MEX flight in the future but there are some restrictions of flights to MEX (up to 12 weekly
IIRC).

Miami for sure is the probable future destination of Gol in the US, fits perfect for their 738 planes but i doubt about LIM-MIA thru MAO. Better to see a network like:

BSB-MAO-MIA
REC-MAO-MIA
GRU-MAO-MIA
GIG-MAO-MIA
