Hay,
yesterday I went to AMS and I saw that this plane was standing next to the hanger of KLM engineering. I know it will probably be scrapped.
Does any one have any further info on this?

In the Scramble thread it says that today all engines were started and tested. After the test it was towed back near the KLM hangar. Personally I think this L1011 looks remarkable clean (saw it last Saturday) and will still have some air-time to go. (I hope it is not just a ferry flight to the USA to be broken up...)

This is young for an L-1011, I hope it finds a new home somewhere.

That's nothing compared to some of the older DC-10's NW was operating not too long ago. Surely this Tristar has some air-time left if there are any takers.

I am in contact with the mx manager of the Tristar.
It was scheduled to leave AMS at Nov.2006 but they encountered an engine problem during tests.
Will let you know when the new date is available.

Maybe this is one of the new VIP Tristar's for the Las Vegas Casino company

Agreed. Much better than what we have hanging around in the states right now.

Some news guys.
Just received a email from the mx manager telling me that the Tristar is ready to go but waiting for approval from the Dutch authorities who are looking into the paperwork right now.
He also told me that it should be at VCV on March 12 at latest.

Willem
