The new c/s is going to look great on the A330! Are there any spotters where they are painting the a/c that can show us the progress?

Sad to see the old colors go, honestly. I'm all for a mixed fleet. The old and the new look so cohesive next to each other.

Indeed it is about time and I agree with the ones who think the A330 will look stunning in the new US livery. I'm looking forward to the first photos!!!

None that live in New Iberia, LA directly (if there were, in years past, we would have seen pics of Air India 777s, Qantas Wunala Dreaming 747-400ER right away)...it's a good 3hr plus drive from the Houston area, and I'll be out of town when it likely comes out. Shame, as it'd be worth it!

Oh, I couldn't agree with you more. I love seeing a mixed fleet. When you're out spotting, you want to see diversity, not the same color scheme for the same airline, no matter how good looking the colors are.

Another note: The Trans-Atlantic 757s have just begun refitting with new interiors, Envoy sections AND winglets. These aircraft are expected to all be completed for the start/restart of PHL TA services this season.

Well, New Iberia is only about 2 hours from here and is supposedly a rather pretty little town. I may well have to make a trip. Anyone know when she is out?

Just a couple of days ago, I booked my first transatlantic itinerary (and first widebody flights), and it wound up being on US. Never mind that I would have preferred FI or CO, but at any rate my transatlantic legs are PHL-CDG-PHL on the A330. The first flight is mid-May, and the return is late June. I hope at least one of those flights is in new colors - I'd be happy to get one of each, actually. But since the A330 fleet is just nine planes, they might get painted pretty quickly, but then again I know its hard to find time to get international widebodies in the shop as well. Anyone have any guesses as to how quickly US plans to finish the whole A330 fleet?

I figured as much. I saw the plane leaving PHL yesterday at a rather unusual time. I remember the flight number was like 9595 or something. Had a feeling this one was headed for paint.

Quoting HBJZA (Reply 20): How can they go from a brilliant magnificient stunning beautiful great black colour sheme to this boring white sheme ??
Because of the America West merger (who have hubs in the hot cities of Phoenix & Las Vegas), they opted for a white livery because it will be lest subject to fading in the sun, and the cabin will stay cooler in the planes that go through Phoenix and Las Vegas, especially in the summer.
Never mind that the A330 doesn't go to PHX or LAS, but of course they are painting all the non-special-scheme aircraft in the same scheme.
At least they kept color on the bottom third of the fuselage! But anyway that was US's official explanation for choosing a white livery.

A little off topic but here is the first US 737-400 in the new colors and a historic one at that.
Thanks to Jay Selman for another great "First" photo.
Cheers

25 Whappeh: I was skeptical of the new scheme at first, but every time I see it on a new aircraft type I fall in love with it more. On the 319 it was like "Eh" on
26 Etops1: the 737-400 looks awesome in the new paint.
27 BA777: Nice, hope they've put the bolt back onto the wing that was lost during the CLT-LGW flight I had on her back in October! Henry
28 BN727flyr: This might be a dumb question, but ... if the paint shop is at ARA, what was the reason for the plane to be in BFM?
29 AA737-823: This scheme seems to look better on longer airplanes. On the 319, you don't get the length of fuselage to differentiate between the up-swoop at the n
30 ScottB: It was never black; the color is a very dark blue. It does look almost black. Well, another plus with the lighter-colored livery is that the peeling

34 A330323X: US outsources some of its heavy maintenance at BFM. The A330 heavy checks are there for the first time this year, after Air Canada made a royal mess
36 Flyorski: I like the new paint, it looks great on the 767, and I am sure it will look on the A330 as well. I also enjoyed seeing the first pic of the 737.
37 N776AU: I love the new scheme. It goes great on everything!
38 MCOflyer: Does anyone know when the 321's will get it? MCOflyer
39 A330323X: Soon. The 321's are all newer than then 319's and 320's, so they're just now getting around to needing their first heavy maintenance checks, which is
40 LGA777: Re some of the earlier questions N273AY should be finished repainting on Mar 8th at ARA to be followed by N272AY. I believe the plan is to paint 4 A-3
41 MCOflyer: Cool. Will all 9 be done this year? MCOflyer
42 Etops1: al 9 should be done this year ready for the summer season.
44 Captaink: Like ? I can tell you though that black liveries look quite different to the US very dark blue livery.
45 LGA777: I have a lot of respect for ETOPS1 and his info is usally very acurate so hate to disagree there buddy but as I previously mentioned 4 are scheduled
46 Mah584jr: Those were the planes you must have seen at night.

48 Daleaholic: Anybody have an update as to when we'll be able to see the aircraft? Pictures? Thanks
49 PHLapproach: As was said, it will not leave ARA until the 8th. In other news 201UU did a 1.5 hr test flight today and should be leaving soon.

53 PHLapproach: 272 was supposed to go down last night. But after being delayed for 3 hours, either the flight plan timed out or it was canned. No news yet on 273. It
54 Daleaholic: Yeh, you're right. If one is preparing to go down there, one must be ready to come out! I really hope US proves me wrong with this scheme on the A330
55 USAIRA330: I'm with you...i can't wait to see this! The new scheme looks really good on the first 757 with winglets!
56 Etops1: 273 is schduled to fly to man england tomorrow. so man spotters get your camera's ready .
57 Whappeh: I can not wait to see this! Come on MAN spotters, don't let us down!
59 PHLapproach: 273 is getting in at 2:45am. 272 leaves Philly at 8:30pm. So 273 is scheduled for only MAN tomorrow? Not running 1071 by chance?
60 Etops1: 273 will be flying phl-sju tomorrow as flt 1071. so you sju spotters be ready!!!
61 PHLapproach: THANK YOU!!!! I knew it would have made more sense for them to put it on 1071 in the morning. I'll try to get that first photo up!!!

65 Mah584jr: I'm gonna try to head down and grab some shots of the bird tomorrow morning. Should look fantastic.
