They should be used on trans-pacific flgihts. They will be used at first from the US to NRT and HKG. In time SYD, KIX, PEK, SIN will be added, and in a few years, all pacific destinations will have flights with Personal Televisons.

UA will be keen to have PTVs on their SYD and MEL routes by the middle of next year so that QF do not get the advantage in this area. I am unsure as to when NZ plan to complete their installation. If AN commence servicing this route as planned they will probably be the first with PTVs on all flights given they will probably be using SQ 747s.

Must be pacific...I flew SFO-LHR back in September and it was still the big screen.

NZ is getting them in late August of 2001. While Qantas are installing them on all 744 in April of 2001. QF will be using them on their MEL-AKL-LAX flights and also SYD-AKL-EZE. Also SYD-BKK-LHR also such flights as to such destinations as Rome, Singapore, Honolulu, Los-Angeles and Japan.
NZ will have them on their AKL-LAX-LHR, AKL-NAN-LAX-FRA, SYD-LAX, AKL-NRT, and all Los Angeles bund fligths. The next to be fitted are the 767's. (Don't quote me on that).

Will they still keep the big screeen after the installation of PTVs? Cathay Pacific did.

However, it seems that ALL the big screens in UAL's Business and First class have been gone.

How come? Cathay has both!
