Can someone please help with an issue - my father was recently killed in a car accident and has many miles accumilated on several carriers - does anyone know what the airline process is for this?? Can they be transferred to my mother's account or are they just lost?

United's Mileage Plus program requires that you call them and there is a fee but you can get them moved over to someones account. If everyone agrees of where to send the miles, you shouldn't have any problems getting 90-100% of the miles.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I went through this 2 years ago when my father died as well, although only with DL, CO, and AA. All of the airlines were very helpful, and unfortunately I don't remember exactly what was needed, but I know you need a death certificate, and a form sent from the airlines filled out and notorized. If you just call any of the airlines reservations departments, they will have the exact information you need. It's not very difficult, but some can be time consuming. Good luck, and again, very sorry.
