I am just wondering what your experiences with Korean airlines have been like. I flew on the one month ago and found them to be a very good airline. Better than Qantas i must admitt. Their crews were very friendly and i had a enjoyable time on board. I would diffinately travel KE again.
Cheers

I too traveled KE from IAD-JFK-SEL in 98' and found it to be a very pleasant experience. The 744 was less than 1 yr old, and very good in-flight amenities. I would fly them again in a minute. Asiana is also very good, one thing the Koreans have is a much lower cost over the Japanese on the same routes.

Flew KE only once, LAX-HNL-LAX way back in 1984. Aircraft was a B747-100. With only about 50 pax. The crew were very regimental, but all were quite nice. I was on my honeymoon, and they upgraded us for some time in Business and treated us with Champagne and I think some savouries. A very pleasant experience all round. My only disappointment is that I was not allowed to visit the flight deck. But those were different times. Especially since it was not long after they had lost the 747 over Sacarin, and a DC-10 in an overrun. I complimented the crew by filling in a comment card. I do that on most flights. But KE was the only airline that acknowledged my compliments by sending me a thank you letter. I cherish that to this day. I am glad to hear that they are still a good airline.

I have flown on KE back in 1990 from LAX-SEL-TPE.
Very nice service, KE even treated pax for over night stay at Seoul and a half day tour of Sel.

Only problem traveling on KE would be saftey. Like CAL of Taiwan, both carriers has been notorious with safety.

My Experiences with Korean Air has been wonderful, but I must say that Asiana has better Service and reliable safety, anyone agree with me?

I will be flying with them this winter. Good to hear the positive comments on their service? How is their inflight entertainment. Do they have seat back personal tvs on coach in their 744s, A330s or 773s?

I've flown on 9V-SPK.

They are quite good. Excellent leg room in coach on their 744s. I flew them from IAD to SEL in 1996, and was quite happy. The food was very good too - lots of sea food, and ample portions. I think I was the only non-Korean on board that flight (it was not very full), so in some instances announcements were only made in Korean. No PTVs, but it was a night flight, and I slept all the way to SEL. Flight attendants were polite. Decent service, nothing too special. But the added legroom in coach is worth all the PTVs and amenities in the world.

Airnewzealand, I am not at all surprised that Korean Air has better service that Qantas. Practically any airline has better service than Qantas.

Jr,
their inflight entertainment is awesome. Most Airlines only play two movies and since our flgiht was 12.30 hrs long we had four. Plus all the others like CNN & funniest home videos, plus the promotional tour guide of Seoul and Korea. They donot have PTV's just as yet but i expect them to have them soon. I truely believe they are one of the top airlines in the world. There flight attendants are always Cherpy and it is like they want to talk to you. They make conversations with you when serving drinks and Food. There food is sooooo nice. I have never known any Asian food to be as nice as theirs. I sat in seat 48G. It was good but the big screen was not great. They have 21 channels of all different things such as music, News, Movies etc...
I hope this helps you alot. Enjoy flying with them. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did. I flew on the 772 AKL-SEL & 773 SEL-AKL.
PS sit in seat 52A,B. Really good seats. Also the G, C seats in the middle are also awesome. If you are flying into SEL, get window. Awesome views!!!!

GARDERMOEN,
WHY did you not like Qantas. I hated them myself but alot of people say they are really great. I did not like their service and how they copy other airlines and say it was their idea. i.e. Air NZ put in winglet headrests on all aircrafts. They then went and did it. CopyCats. Anyway i respect them. But still say KE is way, way way way way better!!!!!

Cheers
