Hi All.

Just a quick question...

I know that Delta Introduced new Flight Attendant Uniforms last spring. I am curious as to which uniform style most flight attendants are choosing to wear. Any red dresses out there? I always found it hard to believe that many would pick that option.

As a frequent Delta flier, I have noticed the red dresses seem to be more a warm-weather/summer option. Last week I flew DL to SVO, and all the F/A's had on the uniform hats. Looked very classy.

I've seen 2 red dresses, and they are really stunning. Unfortunately, rnone of them was wrapped around a woman who had to have been 40lbsrnoverweight, and I am being kind. The dark outfit would have been muchrnmore appropriate. Now if they could only improve the quality of theirrninflight service, we would really have something.

I've seen maybe 3 red dresses in my last 30 DL flights over the past 6 months...not too many out there at all.

I've seen 1 red dress in the past 6 months or so. So figure in that time I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of the others. I consider it a blessing as the red looks awful on 98% of the F/As who choose it.

If you have only seen one red dress, how can you state that it "looks awful on 98% of the F/A's who choose it"?

I have seen the red dress on several Delta flight attendants since last summer. I have to say that it looked very nice on any crew member I saw wearing it. The hats are also a nice touch. Compared to other US carriers and the previous uniform, the majority of Delta crew members look very nice in their new uniforms and are a step up. Even if that means you see the odd one out who doesn't look as well groomed.

Yes, believe it or not, the red dress is not available for, as our friend AME put it, women that are at least 40 lbs overweight. In my travels on Delta, I have seen them a handful of times, usually to warmer climates or busier markets(NY, DC, CHI) and they have only been on women who can fit in them(slender and thin) and know they look good in them. However, most of the FA's tend to be a little more modest about their bodies and would not feel comfortable wearing them. Kind of like asking your wife to wear a Hooter's outfit, to which she would reply, "Are you kidding?"(unless she is or has been a Hooter's girl)

Most FA's choose to wear the blue skirts or blue pants and white shirt with blazer. However, I must say that I would prefer to see more of the red felt hats out there. When I see FA's wearing them cocked to the side, it really looks classy and nostalgic of days gone by.

I said 1 in 6 months. I've seen more than that in total. Doy!

I think they're a step up from a lot of other airlines, but when I see them inflight, they just look too "I'm a passenger flying to a business meeting" rather than a flight attendant.. (This may be because I've only seen the business suit looking ones in person)

???????Meaning?

At the risk of sounding presumptuous, your statement insinuates that a flight attendant's uniform should not look like a professional business person, as they are not. That attitude is insulting, and a misperception, to say the least.

No no no no no. I'm saying the uniforms ( to ME, me me, me) look too much like a regular business suit that someone would wear to a meeting. It makes the Flight Attendants blend in with the passengers, and looks really uncomfortable, considering how much moving around they have to do... I'm in NO way saying Flight Attendants aren't professional people, just that in my opinion, they should have something to wear that didn't look like they worked at a desk.

With past uniform collections all the varieties of dresses seemed to be very popular with the female flight attendants. I have to say that the blue buttoned dresses they wore with the 1990´s uniform collection looked pretty sharp on almost every single FA I´ve ever ssen. It looked awesome on slender ladies and still looked good on the "bigger" ones. It really was a nice dress and still looked like a uniform. I really miss that uniform and especially the gold wings they wore with it.

I haven´t been on a DL flight since the current uniform collection has been introduced. However I´ve seen a couple of flight crews walking through the airports in it. I must say it´s a really nice uniform. I like it a lot better than the grey uniforms they had before. Even though I didn´t think it was as bad as many people believed. There are certainly uglier uniforms out there.

My question: Is it right that the emale FA´s have the option of different kinds of dresses with the current collection? If I remember correctly I´ve seen red as well as blue dresses??? And while the red dress is offered as a wrap dress only blue dresses come either as a wrap dress or a buttoned dress, is that correct? Do hey still wera aprons in-flight? I always thought it was a nice option and DL´s aprons with the past uniforms didn´t look too bad!

Hopefully I´ll be able to check out the new uniforms on a DL flight in the near future.

Best regards

L1011Lover

So she doesn't wear her's then, right? LOL  Wink Just kidding, the option for inserting that was there and my dad is already starting off on a bad note, so I had to take out my anger on someone, so thank you for playing. I'm sure she's lovely(since she can fit into the dress as compared to ladies out there who can't).

They had a dark navy blue dress, similar to the one's available now. And while they are nice and do the job, they don't "catch the eye" like the shiny red-wrap dress. The red wrap dress looks even better with the vintage felt hat to go along with it.

As compared to not having options? Or as compared to the guys who DON'T get options and have to stick with the same uniform. I, for one, think I would look stunning in a red-wrap......uhhhh......nevermind.  Wink

Quoting L1011Lover (Reply 17):

The blue dresses are all button-style and more conservative looking. Only the red-wrap dress will wrap around you for a slender fit.

Apron's are an option for FA's and they are still avail if the FA chooses to have it. Personally, I've only seen FA's wear aprons on very few flights, but I have seen them here and there. DL also offers a reversible bucket type hat for the men and I haven't seen anyone wearing that yet. Probably a good reason as it more looks like the kind of hat you would go fishing in and hook your lure's to for safekeeping.

How many brightly-red-dressed businesswomen have you seen?
