I was just wondering if there was a site where you can look up old flights for the sake of filling the blanks in my 'flight log'.
I'm looking for something where i can enter the flightnumber and if possible a date, and then get the aircraft that usually did this route or -if possible- even the reg# for the specific date.
I know of www.flugstatistik.de which is pretty good, but since it's in german it's pretty focused on germany.
It is filled up by individuals, but you have the chane to look for a flightnumber, and it shows what other members have flown on this route. It also has many wonderful statistics etc - a great site to keep your flight log online.

www.departedflights.com is the only one I know of, but it focuses mostly on schedules of airlines that either no longer exist or have been merged together (Pan-Am, Eastern, the old USAir, etc) from the USA. Not sure if that will help you at all, but it's still a pretty neat site to check out

If any of your flights were tpo or from LHR or LGW then check out: http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk
In modern times it attempts to list all flights into and out of Heathrow and Gatwick.
For LHR the oldest date is 28 July 1958. The site shows that on that date LHR visitors included CF-TEU, a Trans Canada Airlines Lockheed Super Constellation, G-AGHJ, a BEA Douglas DC-3 Pioneer and HB-IBI, a Swissair Douglas DC-6B. I am also pleased to say that it lists more than one dozen BEA Vickers Viscounts - see my handle. Coincidentally my first commercial flight was by BEA Viscont from LHR (to LBG) somewhere about that date.
