Dear a.netters,
My flight from MCO-JFK has been delayed for about 1 hour and 15 minutes (DL 1208). I have a connected flight in JFK to DXB on EK202, which is scheduled on time for a departure at 11:00 PM. Now, I will arrive in JFK around 10:30 PM and I was wondering how long it would take to get from DLs gate to EKs gate and will I make it. If not, what should I do?

that might be an option, but its only 15 minutes more than EK-202......
If you have your ticket on one PNR (such as purchasing a ticket from a travel agent), you might have more luck......if not then you might have some trouble...
Contact EK also as EK are very cool when it comes to missed flights, etc...especially if you can show that its no fault of your own..

That's what you get for booking such a close connection of only 1 hour 50 minutes in the first place with a change from terminal 3 to terminal 4. Any sort of a delay, no matter how short or long, will put your connection in doubt. Next time, book a longer connection.

I would advise calling Emirates and letting them know about your situation. They will not be notified unless you directly call them since Delta and Emirates do not code-share.
I honestly don't think 30 minutes is enough to make the flight. Any international flight usually closes 45-60 minutes before it's estimated time of departure.
The best bet would be to call them and ask about Emirates 205 to HAM or have them re-schedule on EK204 which departs JFK tomorrow at 10:20am.

Any chance of DL putting you on another airline?

I guess you would prefer to have a four hour connection window. He needs help not judgement...

Quoting MEACEDAR (Reply 7): I called EK and they told me to call DL because it was DL flight that was late not theirs, which I agree with. It is DL who is at fault not EK.
Can Delta not put you on DL1736 to LGA which gets you to LGA at 21:01 and then you would take a cab to JFK?

I would inform EK that it was a security breach at MCO (another thread currently ongoing) that is causing the delay of what seems to be a few airlines and see if they have an empathy and can assist.

Not necessarially true. Codesharing has little/anything to do with interlining. If the itinerary was on one ticket, two things
First, It will be Delta's responsibility to get you to your final destination; that may or may not be on EK
Second, if EK is anything like NW/UA, they will have a lot of information about you. When I flew LAX-ORD-DTW-PLN-DTW-ORD-LAX with LAX-ORD-LAX on UA, the rest on NW, the Northwest agents knew which inbound flight I was on, that the flight had landed, which gate I was coming from, etc. The UA agents had similar information and they could even tell me where at ORD my luggage was once NW handed it over to them,
NW and UA don't code share, but like most civilized* airlines they do play well with others (i.e. participate in the industry interline agreements)

the first flight leaves at 1100 pm and the 2nd flight via hamburg at 1115 pm, for both flights you do not have enough time for the connection, on delta you arrive at terminal 2 then you have to take the train to terminal 4 for the emirates.

Thanks guys! I just came back from DXB. Let me tell you what I did...
I went from MCO-JFK on DL1208 like planned then in JFK I went to Emirates desk explaining that I missed my flight and I needed help to get to my bags, etc. They told me that not to worry about my bags and they have been checked all the way to DXB and just to get a hotel room and go on EK204 in the morining the next day. I did said and when I arrived in DXB, I still had to catch my flight to BEY that left 10 hours after. I went to the baggage claim area and got 1 of 2 bags. I inquired about the 2nd bag and they stated it has already been checked to BEY. When EK told me that I directly gave them my other bag and told them if they could put it with the other one. The lady said no problem and did so. I got to my DXB-BEY on EK and the flight was perfect. When I arrived in BEY, I only got one bag. This bag was the one I picked up from DXB. I filled a Baggage Delay form at BEY and it turns out that the bag the EK lady told me about was left behind in JFK. They put it on a flight from JFK-HAM-DXB-BEY and arrived 3 days after I arrived in BEY. I was kind of expecting something like this, so I wasn't that mad.
On the way back, it went smoothly. BEY-DXB
DXB-JFK
JFK-MCO
When I arrived in MCO, on of my bags were left behind in JFK. Luckily it arrived on the last flight out of JFK to MCO with DL. DL called me at midnight saying that they have the bag and are going to deliver it within the next 3 hours. I told them just to leave on the front door. I woke up at 5 in the monring and it was their. By the way, both bags were severly damaged.

I still wouldn't have made it because it was severly snowing in New York so I would have still been late. Think about it, if I were to arrive in LGA at 9 PM and get out of the terminal catch a cab, by then it should at least be 9:30 PM. Then to catch a cab to JFK, which my friends says it aobut 20-25 mins without traffic, but it was snowing so there was defintely going to be traffic. So it would be around 10:30 before I arrived at JFK, then I had to go through security then through immigration and then I needed to run to the gate, all in 30 minutes. I figured just to go on the DL flight I originally booked.
