If the vertical stab could be moved mid-ship (I know it wouldn't be functional in that position), the plane would look exactly like a killer whale. So much so I bet WN would be forced to purchase a dozen just for their Shamu liveries.

N328KF: The video feed I recieved was like watching a movie. Maybe you need to update your graphics card. I have the Radon9800PRO, and that is old. Go to cnet.com and look for an upgrade.

That was AMAZING. It's a sneak peek at what we've all been waiting for -- seeing the Dreamliner in various airline liveries. Seeing it in flight was really quite cool. All I've seen to date are the static images Boeing publishes (and that one video on the www.newairplane.com website.
Very cool. And, by the way, the video quality was spectacular. (of course I'm using a 17" MacBook Pro).

How about you not assume I'm operating on outdated equipment? It was a rather low resolution video — only 640x360.

Quoting Blackbird1331 (Reply 1): Outstanding graphics. I wish they made a flight sim training program. Thanks for the link.
P.S. It takes awhile to load, but it's worth it.
Couldn't agree with you more! For the heck of it, I muted the video's volume and ran Andrew Loog Oldham's instrumental
The Last Song (original instrumental version of the Verve's Bittersweet Symphony) way cool!

Outstanding video. Thanks for posting it. I was never a fan of the flight deck windows on the 787, but after seeing this video and the head-on flight shots it had I can say I like those windows now. I can't wait to fly on one!

Ole,
Great job with the video. I love how you incorporate the movement of the "camera" into the flight scenes (you can see the entire frame move, as if the "plane" that the "camera" is in is being jostled by turbulence). It really adds to the realism of the flying scenes.
My only minor criticism is that the taxiing onto the runway at the beginning doesn't seem quite right. Too smooth, and maybe a little too fast. Would it be possible at all to add some jetwash from the engines? Maybe some shake in the wings and the engine as the wheels travel over the expansion seams in the concrete?

Thanks for your feedback Bbobbo !
Details counts and you are pointing out some details that would worth working on in the next version. Also the windsock in the beginning of that clip should be moving a bit in my own opinion.
Others see things that we don't see ourselves why its good to get feedback from you guys.
Uh oh! You have now unleashed the floodgates! But then, if you want an absolutely perfect rendering I am sure the people of this site (nit-pickers unite!) will ba able to direct you to the "little things" that separate normal animation from reality.
My own example...

I noticed this "jiggle" to but found it disconcerting and unreal. I might have noticed some slight movement in other live footage but not that much, I suspect it may be that most are done with a steady cam nowadays. Just my two cents.
Otherwise it was very good, I was impressed.

A Steadicam cannot compensate for the movement of the photographic platform. That's what this "jiggle" is intended to represent, and to me, it only made the video seem that much more realistic.

I understand that. And I mean no disrespect to Bbobbo by using his comment. It was that since he commented on that aspect specifically but to which I had had a different reaction made me want to share my own (which I had refrained from doing when I first saw it).
For me I think the movement is good but needs to be more subtle. But again that is just my opinion!
Other questions/comments I had:
Gold engines on the Icelandair. Isn't Boeing "recommending" a specific grey paint only for laminar flow reasons (for fuel efficiency), is Icelandair choosing to still go with gold?
I liked the detail of the female F/O in the Continental plane.

You guys should release your movies in cross-platform formats -- I'm on a Linux machine and can't watch it.
YouTube has done a great job realizing that Flash players are available on "all 3 platforms". (Yes, I realize there are many more OS platforms than Windows, Mac, and Linux, but those 3 really do cover most of us...)
26 N328KF: Flash leaves a lot to be desired. H.264 is the way to go to have quality and stay cross-platform.
27 Ole: Hi Tug, Impressive that you noticed the female F/O in the CO plane ! I don't know about the Boeing recommendation for engine paint. But yellow/gold is

31 LimaNiner: Of course Flash video doesn't compare to anything encoded in a real codec, but Flash works "out-of-the-box" pretty much everywhere. I don't think FC6
32 Bbobbo: Oh, I didn't take it as disrespect at all. I'm perfectly okay with people having different opinions from my own. Wow, nice observation. I had to go b
33 Tugger: I noticed that too and was also thinking that it needed to get "fuzzier" as the plane rises. I also think the light point-source should not be direct
34 Boeing747_600: Good call! The music in the otherwise excellent video sounds like it was lifted from some porn soundtrack
35 Call911mfc: I noticed the missing passengers in the CO flight, too. I just figured it was a non-rev flight out of Heathrow to keep a slot viable
