So it appears that the A380 will be arriving at JFK on March 19th at noon. Somebody from an old thread who will be on that flight posted these details:

19th Mar FRA-JFK
LH8940
STD 09.00 STA 12.00

I am supposed to return to DC on the Delta Shuttle that morning, but I can't miss the A380 coming to JFK for the first time...So I am going to change my flight to later in the day.

I plan to be at JFK watching it land...Hopefully there will be favorable runway conditions and we will know for sure that morning where she will be landing.

I imagine other A.netters will be joining me, so I thought I would post this to coordinate our plans...Anyone else know that they are definitely going to be there?

Where's the best place to see the plane up close from inside a Terminal? (I can't deal with this cold weather anymore...) Good luck to all you brave lads...

I imagine it will be parked at Terminal 1 at gate 10 which I believe is the current gate at Terminal 1 which can handle an A380. Gate 10 is located at the end of Terminal 1 which means you would not have the best view from the cafeteria, but would still be able to see it.

But by March 19th I have hopes that the weather will be up in the 50's, which is not that cold.

Thank you! I have to head to T7 to get my CLEAR ID, so it'll give me a chance to use the AirTrain too.

One should have a pretty good view of it at the gate from the top of the T1/2/3 parking garage. The authorities probably won't appreciate you standing around there for long, though.

Thanks for the tips. I presume the cafeteria is before security?

Yes, it is located on the second floor of Terminal 1.

Are you likely to get a good view of it landing from there? Unless it lands on 31L or 4L/R (the latter would be very unusual), I would have thought a better area might be over toward T5/6.

Where will you be, Mir?

I want to go, but im awaiting to see if i will be approved for a Vacation Day. If it arrives around noon, a good time to be there would be 12noon i guess. Anyone know how long it will be there just in case im not approved for a vacation day? If not maybe i can catch it when it arrives on the 20th? I think its supposed to be both monday and tuesday. Im scheduled to work 7am-3pm in Grand Central so i hope i can either get the day off, or go make it. Also if i can go, where can one stand as far as getting pictures or seeing the new Aircraft. I will know by tonight if i got it or not. anyways i hopefully will see some of you there........

Question for you all going to see the A380. If one doesnt have a ticket nor work for any airlines where would be good to see the Airbus A380? I live 5 minutes via Belt parkway to JFK. Maybe it would be good to see it from the Five towns area when the plane approaches over rockaway turnpike? Anyone have any good photo spots? I would love to get some photos of it..

Thank you

I plan to be there with alot of other DL ramp agents and be right there next to the plane as they put the bridge on I suppose that is is the PA Police dont make it some sort of security issue of getting to close. I will post pics from my not so high end camera.
