I've just been online and seen that there seems to be not a single seat available in Economy for my flight. I'm in 30-something H which is an aisle, on a 744.
I tend to get a little uneasy when flying in the central section of a widebody, so I really would like a window if at all possible; is upgrading my only option??
What is frustrating is that I purchased in early Jan @ the HKG office and made a specific window seat request. I know I have no right to complain, to be fair, but i'd like to trip to be as nice as possible.

Only a certain % of seats are available for pre-allocation. The airline will hold some back to be able to allocate on the day at check-in to those who didn't bother or didn't know about pre-allocation. Seats such as e/exits and bulkheads are not usually pre-allocated for example. You should still be able to get a window seat if you turn up early to check-in.
I don't know what loads you have been given, but that flight must be pretty full if all the seats that could be pre-allocated have gone !!.
