New Livery On US Dash-8's?

Well we've all seen the US livery applied to most of their fleet including the Airbus and Boeing side of the fleet, plus the CRJ's. Does anyone know if/when US plans to repaint their Dash-8's - and ERJ's for that matter?

Last I heard Piedmont hopes to start painting Dash 8's in the new US scheme in April, and I have heard rumors at some point they may do a Piedmont Retro Prop! As far as the ERJ-145's they are headed to CO Express so we probably will not see one. And there is currently only the one oddball Colgan SF-340A in the new scheme.

Regards

If you go on the fleet page at USAirways.com, you'll see that everything in the fleet is in the new paint, so the intention must be to get everything painted. The Piedmont fleet is supposed to get the new scheme, but the fleet is stretched to the max, and pulling a plane out of service for paint just isn't an option. Sooner or later its bound to happen. The retro prop scheme would be fun to see as well.

Is there still a chance of piedmont getting 400q's? Those dash 8's are hosed. They are old and crappy in the interior. Just my .02...

I agree the Q400's would be nice, though I still prefer the old Dash-8's to those damn CRJ's....

I think the Q400 would fit nicely into the US system; especially on alot of the shorter, regional routes that US uses jets on.

Agreed. I hope they order a new plane for Piedmont.

Even if they did get some Q400s, they wouldn't immediately replace the 100 and 300 models they have. The first Q400s would probably be put on dense routes under an hour that they use RJ's on. As far as the 100 and 300s go; If they're not broken, dont phase them out. And when they do break, put some speed tape on them. Despite age, these aircraft are still very fuel efficient.

I thought Chautauqua was flying CRJs for CO, not ERJs.

Next flight: GRR-ORD-PDX-SEA-ORD-GRR

They fly both for CO (surprising ehh?). I knew about the CRJ's though recently found out about the ERJ's myself.

Flying a plane is no diff. from riding a bicycle. Its just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. -'Airplane'

don't know if the CRJs will remain long term or if they were a stop-gap measure until they got the -145 from the USX fleet.

According to my sources inside Republic Holdings (parent of CHQ), the CRJ is a long term aircraft. There is a significant cost to add the aircraft to the ticket that needs to be recovered. Having the CRJ on the ticket opens the company up to bid on other flying, such as CRJ flying for Delta....
