During a press conference event with the journalists, China Airlines' CEO says the airline is planning to start few new routes in 2007, after a successful 9-route launch in 2006.

The new routes will be:
Taipei - Barcelona (Cargo)
Kaohsiung - Chiang Mai (Passenger)

After the re-launch of Abu Dhabi, China Airlines is campaigning to get approval to fly to Dubai.

The airline will add 3 330-300 and 1 747-400F in 2007, while retires its last A300-600R, which just returned from lease to Vietnam Airlines.

I understand that CI is to return the A340-300s to lessors after their lease terms run out.

There was talk some time ago of China Airlines buying 747-8s; what is happening with this?

After the success of Emirates Skycargo 313's three times a week from DXB, we will have a 744F operating to TPE. GREAT!!!!

Last month I take this photo in BCN airport of a Jade Air Cargo 744F operating a cargo flight to PVG. Anyone knows if this flight is weekly or was in BCN only once?

They must be trying to get TPE-DXB before EK does. EK should fly to TPE.

I think EK might have similar problems to those experienced by European airlines a few years back, in that they'd have to have a separate fleet/aircraft, which doesn't carry the UAE flag.

Which flag? Recognise this ...?

EK already flies to PEK and PVG, so it certainly would not want to jeopardise those routes. Really, the best option for TPE is to codeshare with CX or TG, rather than going through the rigmarole of a separate fleet.

they only have one leased A343, the ex SQ one which belongs to Boeing, the other 6 they own. that is due back before the summer (or at least Boeing was marketing it end of last year as available this summer)

still pending. as I said tongue in cheek a few weeks ago they are probably waiting for the US to approve those 66 F16s they wanted. given the Pentagon just announced an almost 400 million$ sale of amraams and maverick missiles for their air force, maybe this 747-8 order is slowly inching to fruition!

This flight is operating at least twice a month, since I've been working at BCN AP I've seen 10 or 12 times Jade Cargo.

There are also many other big freighters such as Cargolux's 744F, Gemini Air Cargo DC10-30, Saudi Arabia MD-11, ItaliaCargo DC10-10, Volga Dnepr Airlines AN-124...
