This is more one of those "Please tell me I'm not bonkers" threads than anything else.
On my past few ExpressJet flights I've noticed extraordinarially quiet boarding music. At first based on the sound qualify and volume I had assumed it was a crewmember's iPod or something...nice touch, I thought.
On my last ExpressJet flight it occurred to me that the -only- song I've heard across these flights was (or at least sounded like) Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds -- as if it were on a loop.
So... is "Lucy" the official, looped, ExpressJet boarding music or have I had the same crewmembers on each flight -- or, alternatively -- am I completely crazy and just imagining it?
While I don't mind boarding music (in fact, I really kind of like it -- it is a nice little bit of a distraction)... I really would prefer some variety... Hummmmmm.hhhhummmmmm...in...hum..mmm...mm.

the boarding music is on the safety demo cd. its not a continous loop of Lucy in the sky with diamonds....there is some frank sintra, elvis and rolling stones amongst others.
and for what its worth, Lucy in the sky with diamonds is about LSD

Hmm, at least I know I'm not [completly] crazy, then -- guess on my next flights I need to pay more attention. I wonder why Lucy is the only thing that's caught my ear; usually I'm one of the first 3 or 4 pax on board, so I probably have heard some of the other stuff and it just hasn't registered.

Interesting fact... Didn't know it, but I'm not suprised at all given the number of subtle drug references in music from that era.

Try working five legs with that all day...... It wears on you. Stuck on you, Lucy in the Sky, etc..... However I think this is a better mix than in the past.

I once flew a United 767 MUC-ORD and the boarding music was some new age junk and it sounded like flight about to take off to hell or some spaceship behind the moon.

I keep hearing new age music when we are boarding at my airline. It is relaxing at times and at times, it gets on your last nerve.

Next time just ask teh crew to slide on pne of your own CD's... All ERJ's have a standard CD player mounted in the galley. It's what we do at night when working on the planes.

Lincoln, at least on ExpressJet we don't have to watch the Larry Kellner' welcome on board intro to the safety briefing video....I think I'm still counting how many times he uses his hands to talk in the new video! Last count I think I was at 14 that we are able to see not to mention when he is talking off camera.
Sorry, back on topic, how about a little Hendrix for the 6:30 AM boardings then follow that with a bit of Dylan.....that would sure be nice.

LOL... I agree completely with you on that one... Then factor the 5 legs into the 4 day trip and somehow on the commute home the only thing I can do is sing under my breath "Lucy in the sky... with diamonds" while walking to hop the flight home.... It's a pretty pathetic site if I do say so myself... I've also noticed it always seems to get to "Lucy" right during the prime boarding point...just when I've finished most of my stuff and "Receiving" is complete but before we get busy with anything else...
Hey NWA757boy... there is actually some Elvis on the CD as well, but if I remember right it is one of the very first songs so most people never hear it... But everyone pretty much hears good ole' "Lucy"...

LOL!!!....I think they changed it a bit. Now they're showing other workers while you hear Larry talk. I think the boarding music is nice, though. Maybe i's because I haven't heard it enough yet. Give me more time on the line, and I'll get back to you.

Chautauqua has two or three smooth jazz tracks, but they loop during boarding, so you'll hear the same music more than once at times. The music is actually pretty good; I started a thread a couple months ago asking for information about the music & nobody on here was sure, except that the group was (or was similar to) Acoustic Alchemy. Emailed RP & never got an answer from them, either.

HP used to have some "National Geographic" stuff on the T.V.'s, along with new-age music,
CO, on a flight to Hawai'i, had Hawaiian music along with a "video slide show" on all of the PTVs,
And on a different flight to Hawai'i, NW had some corny stuff that consisted of 2 looping songs...and it sure did wear on you after an hour...during boarding.

If you haven't seen the new intro he is doing that showed up sometime in Feb, then you might want to bring along your calculator just to keep track of those hand gestures!

Ahhh... Maybe then I should be glad I haven't flown mainline in the past couple of months? I do think they chould shake it up a bit...show Larry sitting in Y or something! I'm convinced that there's some marketing manual somewhere that tells people that people who make frantic gestures are taken more seriously or something like that.
My mom will be flying CO ONT-IAH-CLE tomorrow morning to visit me for the weekend, maybe I should ask her to take a tally?

I can only imagine what 5 legs of that a day would do to you... I have a couple ExpressJet roundtrips coming up near the end of the month (CLE-RDU-CLE and CLE-RIC-CLE) and I' praying that the music will have changed by then.

A few years ago when I flew ISP-CLE, there was quiet boarding music. You can look up my trip report if you want details, but I think it was Sinatra.
