Any idea what routes these will be used on or when they will be flying?

36" pitch for Y-Class seats on the upper deck? That's very generous, although 33" on the main deck isn't that bad either.

Next I want to fly to Taiwan, I'm booking on BR.  bigthumbsup

BR has also launched a BOM specific webpage/site http://mumbai.evaair.com/ to promote their BOM-TPE-SFO/LAX services. They claim to offer services on their Y+ class at fares similar to economy on other carriers.

It is expected to be in service from mid-June. Didn't heard any routes with the new configured 744s.

I recently flown on EVA AIR ELITE class (Previous known as Economy Deluxe) on one of their latest 777-300ER from LAX to TPE. It was one of my most uncomfortable seat in my entire life! The old Economy Deluxe, though plain as it looks, offer good seat width and seat pitch. The new seat are very cramped, and when they recline, it was in a uncomfortable angle. Anyway, I went back to take a economy class seat, boy, that was quite comfortable.

My verdict. New economy class seat (Installed already on their regional A330) are very comfortable and much better than their old economy class seat (on old 747-400) The economy deluxe, now called Elite class, in the other story around.
I think this is bad for EVA. Why are you making your lower profit margin seat more comfortable than your bread and butter class?

I am also surprised about this news that they are retroffiting seats in 747-400. I thought most of which are quite old and will be rapidly replacing by B777? EVA First class never sold well or compete with other airlines. It is wise for them to take out the First and put only Business and other classes instead. This airlines started as a freight company and looks like they are thinking like one, maximizing shipping 'volume'!

I find this funny because the original 747 config was 36" pinch Y if memory serves. Blows my mind to call it 'new' LOL  Wink

I don't care what you think of my opinion. It's my opinion, so have a nice day :)

There is a severe reduction of the number of elite/evergreen deluxe class saets on the new reconfigured 747-400s, which is surpring, as elite class is quite popular these days, and this strategy may reflect that the ED/elite class is not making money for the airlines. Also I personally hope that the new Premium Laurel Class will be less "sliding"... With only three rows in the nose, it should be like the old F class seats... Anyway thanks for the update!

I thought (again I might be completely wrong here) initial 741 seating specs were based on a 36" pitch (for Y). Whether or not that ever came to fruition I don't remember.

e.g. YVR-HKG, i could fly BR's Y+ with the price tag of CX's Y

Hong Kong is not China. Not better or worse, just different.

I'd assume it'll be regular economy class fare with lesser discount.

YVR is rumoured as one of the destination getting this configuration
