All,
I am on the VS site choosing my seats for VS19/20 later this and next month.
VS20 is available, and I have my seat of choice, but for VS19 I get:
"London to San Francisco, Thu 29 Mar, 11:00
We're sorry. The seat map is not available at this time. Your seats will be assigned at check in. "
What could cause this? My initial thoughts were that VS haven't decided if to use a 744 or 346 for the flight, but it's always a 744 so I'm not sure that my theory is right. Any ideas?

Maybe the flight is oversold and they need volunteers or an unscheduled change of equipment. Just my .

Perhaps they've reached the limit of pre-assigned seats for the flight.

Only 60% of seats are available for pre-assignment. The other 40% are allocated at check in on the day of departure, so my advice would be to check in as early as possible.
