Flightglobal reports that EK's first A380 might be completed early next year. Delivery is planned in august. EK doesn't intend to start flying her jets earlier as planned, november 2008, but hopes to be able to start its A380 preparation earlier.

I'd think this could result in slightly more A380s produced next year. Afterall when they're completed, delivered or not, the bay in wich they are assembled should become available for the next one, not?

"Emirates Airline president Tim Clark says an audit by Emirates of the rework and completion effort, as well as information provided by Airbus, indicates the first aircraft could be completed early next year, slightly sooner than Airbus had previously forecast."

"It could be ready by January or February," says Clark. "We would still take delivery in August, but the earlier availability would allow us to undertake extensive systems checks, and give us a good level of maturity at service entry." The A380 could also be used for crew training in Toulouse.

Airbus might just be exersicing caution with both the last A380 delay timeframe & the A350XWB timeframe to save face.

Strange how EK has been crying out loud they need the planes ASAP and then when they get formal indication they may get them sooner than thought, all of a sudden they are no longer in a rush to put them into service...

Anyhow, good news indeed for the A380 program.

Indeed, that's the first thought that comes to mind  Smile
There's obviously much more going on between EK and Airbus than would initially appear from TC's "rhetoric"

I remember this comment being made c. September last year................it was universally pooh-poohed  Sad.
Thanks for the link, Manni.
