Lithuanian Airlines (LAL) SAAB-2000 had an emergency landing. This was first accident after 10 years of safety. SAAB taken off from Vilnius (VNO) with ~30 pax from Lithuania, Russia and Cyprus to fly to Shermetjevo in Moscow. But near this airport electronic said that nose gear isn't opperational. Because runway was in snow and there aren't SAAB specialists in Moscow, the pilot decided to fly back to VNO. After 6 hours of flying plane reached Vilnius again. They made test flight over runway, and speciaalists from earth seen that gear is OK. There was electronic failure. Some passengers was flown to Moscow with reserve plane YAK-42 (which are on use then aircraft havebreakdowns) and others, who wanted to fly to Paris via Moscow, sitted into LAL B737 to Paris. Some doesn't like to fly with LAL again. The electronic device was taken from SAAB and sent to Sweden (SAAB corp.). In TV was a question "do you fly with LAL". Many people said "Yes". This was firs Emergency landing by LAL and second in VNO (Before year BA B737-400 had em. landing)

I don't see why people would not want to fly LAL again, that fact is that these things happen all the time, and I would commend the pilots who decided to return to Villnius because there is no one Qualified enough in Moscow to make sure that it is safe to land the airplane. Give me the SAAB over a YAK, or even the IL-114 anyday....
LAL is a very good airline with a very good record, and this incident (Not accident) is not a major problem for the company.
"Clive Beddoe says he favours competition, but his actions do not support that idea." Robert Milton - CEO Air Canada
After that incident the president of LAL K. Auryla said, that there is a mistake of the president which was before that two SAAB-2000 (LY-SBC and LY-SBD) were leased. K. Auryla said that these planes often have problems. These repairs cost much of money and image (they must use old YAK-42 then plane have breakedown). He said that SAAB-2000 is 10th of 10 regional airplanes in one rating (and don't said, what rating). Stop the planes rent would bring very big penality.

There is a reason for people to not fly with airline. Because there wasn't any major accident (only crashes of private and sport planes) in Lithuania, so people dislike things like that. After British Airways emergency landing many people decided to fly Vilnius-London with LAL and BA closed the route.
