Does anyone know if OZ is currently operating the 20:00 ICN-LAX flights with lie-flat seats in business? I was under the false impression that LAX-ICN-LAX with 777 service automatically meant lie-flat seats in biz class.

I recently flew LAX-ICN in business... and it was equipped with the old seats. After searching for this topic on a.net, it appears as though OZ has stopped the flat seat service on LAX-ICN (777). The OZ girls at ICN could not even tell me if my return flight will have the new seats. Can anyone shed any light on this? I fly back to LAX around the 30th of March...but I'll change my flight to the 744 if it's not worth waiting for the 777 night departure. I'm not at all impressed by OZ's business class product. In my opinion, OZ is a 3rd rate airline. The ground staff is generally terrible (quite rude, even to their own elite members). The only good thing I can find about OZ is their cabin crew. Top notch flight attendants, albeit the uniforms are an ulgly brown 1970s tribute.

Thanks to anyone who has info to share.

Well, ALL OZ long haul 777's are equipped with the 'new' lie-flat seat in business class. Same thing with the A330's. The night OZ departure on a T7 has the lie-flat seat......well, 167% that is. I have a link about this but I have to find it and will post it when I do.

I don't know about a 3rd rate airline because I've flown them 3 times SFO-ICN-MNL and I think they're great, especially their cabin crews albeit poor english. To be honest, OZ is the best international carrier I've flown so far and I've flown a lot of them. I don't think they get enough credit for the little things they do and they're way under-rated.

HI, thanks for the info. I flew OZ from LAX-ICN last week on the 12:30am (approx) 777 service. I was really disappointed when I took my seat....and OLD style business class seat. Maybe it was just a fluke? I know OZ operates some 777's with old b-class interiors (within Asia?)

As far as OZ being a 3rd rate airline, perhaps I am being too harsh. They are definitely 2nd rate at best. I flew over 100k miles on them last year and aside from the cabin crews, there is nothing special about their operation. Thankfully they have a great safety record (then again they are a young airline)...but they can't run an airline to save their lives!

As someone once said on a.net, Asiana tries hard but falls embarrasingly short. I could start ranting, but that wasn't the point of my post...so I'll restrain myself  Smile

Thanks again for the link.

No problem at all. I' am surprised they use a 777 with the 'old business class' on the LAX route considering they claim ALL their 777's and A330's are fitted with the new business class. I've tried the old business class and I wouldn't wanna ride on it for 12 hours so I see where you're coming from. One thing you can do is try to see if they can change fly you out of SFO instead but that will mean buying a ticket for the LAX-SFO leg. I confirmed with them a couple of times that the 777's they send to SFO are equipped with the new J class because I was worried I'd get stuck with the old one. They fly to SFO 4x/week on TUE, WED, THUR and SAT.

I do agree with the 2nd rate airline assessment as far as everything else but the cabin crew. Their cabin crews are great and their Bim bi bap is awesome.  wink . I still gotta compare them with KE per I've heard conflicting comments about them. OZ's lounge at ICN is okay but I normally got to the SQ one instead coz they'll let you in with an OZ boarding pass. Try it while in ICN someday.

Per my understanding though, the 777's with the old J class are inter-Asia only. Maybe it was just a fluke and I hope you don't get stuck with it a second time.

Does anyone know if the new business seat is flying to SYD yet? From what I hear, it has not often been flying that route, but pulling up a seat map (a WorldSpan map using the KVS tool) I see only 4 rows of J seats on the map for April flights SYD->ICN.

Are these actually planned to be operated with the new J class, or is OZ just playing it safe and not selling the 5th row in case of an equipment swap?
