An ERJ for Chataqua (not sure if that's how you spell it) just parked in JFK running a Delta Connection flight. Was there some sort of error in route planning today or are some planes out of service.

Was it painted in UA Express livery? If not I don't see anything out of the ordinary about it. Chautauqua is a Delta Connection Carrier. If I recall correctly, they also have a plane(s) painted in a generic blue and white livery that they use between the different mainline carriers they fly for.

We (Chautauqua) have an ex UA bird that runs around, but it does not have United titles or the UA tail. But it looks horrible.

N296SK

It's embarrassing. You should see it on the COex ramp in IAH. Sore thumb syndrome.

Ya, was on the train the other day and heard a passenger joke that CO must be buying UA one plane at a time.... it looks horrible. You also have the one with the miscolored "EXPRESS" on the title, the all white ones, the ones with the titles and no tail or tail and no titles, and the occassional correct paintjob. Glad they usually park those in the back.... the passengers get a supprise after they pass all the "normal" Continental Express aircraft.

The aircraft in question is indeed N296SK, and yes, it is a horrible embarassment to see this plane flying around, especially when it is flying as a Delta Connection or USAirways Express flight. For those that are unaware, N296SK was painted in full United Express colors, however the "United Express" titles and the "U" on the tail were removed, and now the plane serves as multipurpose aircraft for all carriers. As mention, it sicks out horribly, especially amongst other correctly painted Delta Connection/USAirways Express/Continental Express aircraft.

In Fargo Skywest does the ground handling, thats all that comes in for DL and UA, are CRJ's operated by Skywest, since UA has the most flights to Fargo (8x daily CRJ's) compared to DL's 1 (seasonally 2) they wear "United" clothing. However, its all really skywest.

NW is now ground handled by worldwide aviation crap services, they are nothing but a bunch of idiots who don't know what they are doing, considering they can't even load the correct paper in the printers. Anyway, NW has 8x Daily flights, 5 mainline and 3 CRJ's. Averaging 780 seats a day.

They should come up with some sort of basic house livery like SkyWest has. It'd make it all easier than having a generic bird, and would look better.

I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

The majors don't like having aircraft that aren't in their colors. Hence the "express" labels. However painting is expensive and time consuming. It usually coincides with a major inspection since the plane is down. With all the shuffling in the regional world right now you'll see this quite a bit. TSA has a couple planes in UAL schemes running around with TSA lettering on them.

Please don't tell me that the Transportation Security Administration has gotten into the business of actually flying aircraft. Please. For the love of humanity and all of aviation. They're bad enough on the ground....

(Or is there another TSA I should be aware of?)

Ah...of course...It's been so long since I heard that name [first flight I was ever on with duct tape holding parts of the cabin together -- SAN-FAT on Trans States in the mid '90s]
