also, have you all heard about the fog at gru this am? i was on a lufthansa flight from fra to gru and we were forced to land at campinas. when we landed there was a BA,AA,RG,UA and avianca all waiting for the fog to lift at gru. news here said it was not weather but the brazilian air traffic controlers making trouble. it was awful. had to take a taxi to congonihas to get a gol flight to rio.
The world is missing love, let's use our flights to spread it!

You were unlucky. In Rio i noticed 4 JJ A332 + M11, 2 AA, AZ, IB, TA, CM, DL from ATL, AF 77W, LP and some A320 and 737/73G. And TAM for example allows pax to Rio to leave the plane at GIG. Some airlines like AZ faced some bad time because the crew exceed their journey and they need to bring a new crew from São Paulo in order to fly the plane. It arrive at GRU 12 hours delayed. Others like AA, AF, CM, DL and IB took advantage of the fact they run flights from GIG and could take care of their pax.
It's usual on autumn, but not that early. The problem has been increased by improvements on GRU runways which does not allow the use of 600m and due to this, the ILS system is not working. Will be very usual during the next 2 months to see GIG and VCP with such flights.

Hahahahaha....I always thought that voice sounded like the computer on one of the episodes of Star Trek. There's an episode where the computer goes wacko and gets kinda "fresh" calling Captain Kirk "dear". That was a great question and I never would have thought to have asked about that in here. Thanks Lipe. You always seem to have the answers!!

You guys like the voice?! I always hated her voice... Still, I have to admit it wouldn't be quite the same without her. Then again, it's time to move on and I wouldn't mind if São Paulo/Rio got the same voice used in Salvador.

Quoting LongHaul67 (Reply 6): Darn! I'm flying into GIG on Friday on AF 442, is GIG also plagued by fog like GRU this time of year?
No problem, both runways are running, ILS cat II working and AF pilots always land ! In four years only one time they decided to fly to GRU because of severe weather in Rio. GIG take the advantage to be a sea level airport.
Quoting VC10er (Reply 8): i love when she says "curitiba" too but my fav is when she says "ultima chmada" or as i would hear in english OOOH--CHE--MA SHA--MA--DAAA
Wow... for me the best is the "Now Boarding"
Quoting VC10er (Reply 8): is her voice nationwide? did they have it digitized?
Yes, she have an agreement with Infraero, in up to 30 days a new flight become recorded by her and the info is added on Infraero systems. She's the voice for the main Brazilian Airports.
Quoting VC10er (Reply 10): i wonder if i can hire her to do my answering machine at home in nyc!
Me too (now NYC is my home town) ... and even better to announce "Flight XYZ to Rio de Janeiro.. now boarding... " Dreams...
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !
