Now that Slovak Airlines is gone, what happens at BTS? Any chance of another carrier flying BTS - Moscow? (Maybe Aeroflot with own aircraft?) What do you think?

According to a research report on the SkyEurope website NE most likely will buy the traffic rights and starting flights to Moscow and Saint Petersburg already later this year.

They could even try to feed passengers through BTS...

After opening of base in VIE SkyEurope will downgrade BTS schedule in favour of newly opened base. according me Czech Airlines could use this opportunity and base some of their excesive capacity to BTS to fill up the gab. There is some 3-5 airframes parked uselessly in front of hangar F every day and those birds could be used in BTS.

just fly - it is nice

Well...NE is of course better than nothing but I´d prefer Aeroflot... When did they last serve BTS with own metal?
I just hope SkyEurope don´t forget BTS... Going to Slovakia, landing at M.R. Stefanik Airport is of course much better than landing at boring VIE and taking the train to Bratislava. The nightmare would be SkyEurope concentrating totally on VIE, making BTS almost a Ryanair-only terminal. IIRC, the only non-LCCs serving BTS are Czech Airlines (BTS-PRG only, however), Lufthansa, the rather strange Air Slovakia, and maybe some almost unknown turboprop-only airline from Ukraine or the like.
BTS is one of my favourite airports. Just imagine sitting in the spring sun on the airport café terrace, drinking a cold Zlatý Bazant beer (=Golden Pheasant, IMO the best beer in the world), watching the planes as you wait for your flight...yeah man, it´s as great as it sounds!

Is it safe to say that (i) LCC's will continue to grow in BTS; and (ii) Slovakians who'd rather fly with a non-LCC (because of mileage accrual, variety of destinations, etc.) would prefer to fly to and from VIE?

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

I was covering couple of flights in BTS and from my experience I think that you shoud get totaly drunk if you wanted to see more than 2 aircrafts and not to die from thirst  Wink

It's always the first thing I do when arriving in BTS...going for a Zlaty Bazant at that airport bar on the first floor!  Wink Great stuff indeed.  Smile

Well, I do not know if I'm a typical Slovakian flying non-LCCs. But I do TYS - VIE or PRG or ILZ or SLD or BTS about 6-7 times a year. I'd book a flight to VIE only if it is consideraly cheaper than flying to ILZ (back from SLD or BTS). However I'm traveling to the northern part of Slovakia. Also, I fly SkyTeam only, I'm an NW GE. For pax from around BTS the VIE airport is much more convenient. But there are still 2 decent options for TATL flights from BTS. One is LH via MUC and the other will be soon DL via PRG.

I can only dream about that. I could imagine OK flying to CDG or AMS. But would they be profitable? My gut feeling (based on KL flying F100 to VIE on some of their 4 daily flighs) is anything larger than F70 is too much.

I can see your point about the terrace. That's certainly very nice. But I wish they'd fix the BTS airport finally. It can be such a dump a times.

I wish them the best of luck on this route if they get it. I think they have the best shot on making this route work.
