This was the proving run a couple of days ago, I just got around to uploading it. I have to apologize up front for the camera quality and for the extreme gusty wind moving the camera. It was a visual to Runway 33 (infamous to even the most experienced pilots), and BTW this is my first YouTube video so I hope you enjoy.

I think it's a very strong possibility. If anybody has any inside information about destinations or prices, please post it here.

It looks like they ran this proving run to BUR and there was another one to PSM last week. It appears that these might be the first two destinations.
Good luck.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you to their level and beat you with experience.

If they start PSM-CMH-BUR, I wonder if you'll see JetBlue start BOS-BUR service?

has anybody in the SoCal area seen any clips or mentions in the local papers or on the news? Usually, when something noteworthy is happening and it involves BUR, it hits the news like that. I asked my brother to look through the papers back home in L.A, but he's hit or miss with follow through.
After you taped the A319 landing, did you see at all what it did once on the ground? Taxiback, park at a gate, park at a FBO, park at the remote stands that BUR uses for a/c, what did it do afterwards?

I doubt it - B6 already offers BOS-JFK-BUR and BOS-LGB, and I suspect B6 can find better use for an A320 or two. If B6 wanted to expand service from BOS to the Southland, BOS-ONT would probably be more likely.

Can't say who said it, but info from BUR is that it is all but done except for the final signatures - a kiosk next to the SWA ticket counter and a baggage acceptance area next to it.
Too bad DL didn't bring back the 757 ATL service - had a pilot say that one billboard at LAX and they could have filled three of them...

Flyboy7974 , after landing he taxied back Alpha so I thought he was going to the gate but he crossed Runway 15/33 to an FBO and departed around 3 hours later back to CMH.

I found an interesting link about pilot hiring for SkyBus, including the fact that starting pay is $65,000 a year.

there was also an interesting link that I found doing a Google search last night but can't find it now, but it was a clip that SkyBus was doing an interview open session in BUR, the clip was from late last fall. Guess they'd be going into the A terminal since it's the only one with open gates, probably A7 or A8

Does anybody know if they have started to paint the advertisments on the aircraft liveries yet? I know at least one has, I saw it on wikipedia under Skybus. I'm guessing it's too early but hopefully it's some well known companies. The one at wikipedia is a little bland.

You are correct. N522VA is painted with the Nationwide Insurance livery.
I don't know about other advertisments...but i'm sure that Other Columbus Based companies that have put in money will have Planes too. JP Morgan Chase, and Huntington Bank come to mind...

Atcman, it's funny you mentioned the Delta 757 service because my Dad and I were just discussing that. BUR-ATL was a very popular route (according to the seating charts online), there were never any flights less than 3/4 filled and some flights approaching Christmas and New Years were sold out two months in advance so I have no idea why this fell through. Same thing with Aloha, they kicked ass to HNL and then it just disappeared.
Southwest can probably support BUR alone but it's always nice to have more destinations and aircraft types here.

Agree about the Delta service to BUR, if only more knew about it to use it, I think you'd find that an afternoon flight and more would have been added. Right bout that time though, DL again did some tampering to their schedules and the 757 was obviously needed elsewhere and BUR ops wouldn't fit into the 737-800 specs just too perfectly. I think DL knows BUR is a viable option to the SoCal area because they offered the service through the holidays after their fall discontinue.
As for the Aloha service, again, just wrong time and SNA is their B&B. BUR was interesting for Aloha though, because it was their tag ons that most of the time did just as well and better than their Hawaii flights when comparing yield vs. cost and profit margin. Before the CH11 restructuring and thus BUR pullout, the airport rumor mill, that we all know how rampid that runs, well reps there thought BUR was to be built up quite a bit, and there were thoughts that the BUR tag ons would open new markets to RNO, DEN, and PDX. Right at the end we saw the RNO flight before it was moved to SNA, and I think that BUR also through their time saw SMF/LAS tag ons, right? Everybody for so long talked about all the rumors about BUR getting new DEN service and all those always speculated F9, but I think and almost positive that it was Aloha that was looking at BUR-DEN. I know there was one more city that was speculated to open with Aloha and their BUR tag ons besides the mentioned RNO/DEN/PDX, I can't think of it right now and although I want to say SLC I know that it wasn't but, God, I can't think of it. I will have to look back on here, it was about the time that all those DCA slots were becoming open and when we all saw Aloha on the prospective list of airlines bidding for DCA, everybody was thinking that SNA flights would get the DCA tag on and then right at this time the BUR flights would get.................... I'll have to look back. I wish Aloha would have gotten those DCA slots because I think it would have been interesting if SNA would have been able to offer nonstop DCA service being that the daily O&D is more than 200 pax and a/c utilization for Aloha would have increased greatly

That is for captains which is disgustingly low for the Airbus 320.

Can someone update me: I thought the SkyBus a/c were mostly leased from VX and would be in the process of being recalled for the impending (hopeful) Virgin start-up in a few months. Does SkyBus have their "own" planes as well?

I'm more of a SANFan myself but I think both ONT and SAN will work, my friend! But I sure haven't been hearing much about the 'Bus lately.

I believe Skybus is operating 319's, but still not that much, heck, thats no that much for a job in IT.

They have an order for 65 A319's to begin delivery in late 2008. I'm not certain, but I think they will be leasing planes until then. I wouldn't be worried by Virgin America, just look how long it has taken SKB to get their certificate, and they didn't even have to have an online petition! Anyways, a lot of people on a.net have the common feeling that it won't matter anyways, since SKB will apparently be defunct in 6 months.

Yep, there was just one other tail sticking out of their hangar. It looked to have the same style as N521VA (the originial Skybus orange), but who knows, it might be a new one too.
