Quoting Alangirvan (Reply 4): Will a one stop service in a single aisle plane take passengers off Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways?
I believe they are offering extremely low fares which may attract the "budget concious", most Pakistani's are not particular about which aircraft or airline they fly as long as the fare is cheap and the can visit home as often as possible with clan in tow, that is why immigrant groups are now creating ethno-carriers in the UK to cater to this niche market, and in the past some third tier European carriers also announced plans to fly there, Swe Fly even managed to launch Luton-Skavasta-Lahore route but went out of business after a short while.

I have just read the wikipedia article about AirBlue. At the end, the article say that AirBlue is looking for A340-300s for UK flights. I was sure that AirBlue had orders for A330-200s. The article is up to date, with news about the route to MAN. Once UK routes are well established, I hope AirBlue will look in the other direction at routes between Pakistan and Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Australia has people of Pakistan origin who want good choices for trips to visit Pakistan.

ED never ordered 4 A 332s...they signed a LOI for 2 a 332s in 2005 but nothing got confirmed...they are aggressively seeking out the ex air madrid a 343 fleet to enable nonstop ISB-MAN operations.
though rumor has it in khi, that they are too looking at leasing in 2 A 332s but I find that hard to believe as I dont know any airline wanting to lease out this acft type anytime soon.

It would be good for AirBlue to get hold of the ex-Air Madrid A340 which is currently in storage at Bordeaux and has been since Dec 06. The cabin of this aircraft is similar to Air Blue's exisiting A320 fleet in the sense the seats are blue and each feature PTV's. Lets' see what happens.....

Quoting Imiakhtar (Reply 8): i disagree. the majority of Pakistanis i know prefer to fly PK from MAN despite the cheaper fares that can be found with EY, TK and QR
Very correct statement....Pakistanis worldwide really like PIAs B 777 inflight product but dont like their A 310s and B 747 inflight product.
Pakistanis flying out of MAN like PIA too because its a nonstop flight hence they dont mind paying upto GBP 50-80 for that extra convenience.
However in spite of this, you'll be interested to know that EK's MAN flights are filled with ISB bound pax and vice versa.
Btw all of you will be interested to know that for EK in MAN, the # 1 market that their pax from that city fly to is Perth followed by Bangkok, Johannesbourg, Islamabad then Sydney.
