It looks better on Google Earth where you can spin the shot around so that you are looking from the north. What really looks funky on Google Earth, though, is tilting it so you are looking at an angle. You are expecting the aircraft to rise about the terrain... but it stays flat on the ground like a decal.  crazy

In case anyone's interested, the 747 looks to be 3.1 nautical miles (3.57 statue miles/5.75 km) from touchdown on 24L at LAX (thanks to Google Earth's Ruler feature).
