The chairman of Mexican airport operator Asur said on Monday his plan to offer to buy 43 percent of the company, which would give him a majority stake, should be ready to go in less than a month.

Fernando Chico Pardo told Reuters in a telephone interview that once the 56-peso-per-share offer for the stake in Asur (ASURB.MX: Quote, Profile , Research) (ASR.N: Quote, Profile , Research) is approved by regulators and launched, it will last for 20 days.

"I can't give an exact date but I think we should be able to make an offer to the market within two or three weeks," he said.

Good things happening in the Yucatan peninsula. 2005 numbers were dismal due to the Hurricane that went thru, but 2006 they recovered nicely, 26% increase. Cancun's new terminal and runway will also help with the crowds that plague the airport, specially on peak days.

Plus the Mexican governent announced that plans to build a new airport for the Rivera Maya are a go.

Good news for ASUR, Mexican airports in hands of mexicans... but we need more development... such as more terminals, taxiways & runways!! Mexican LCC's are booming!!
