Hello All,
I've got a question regarding interline agreements. Do these agreements only allow for the transfer of baggage, or do they allow you to check-in for flights as well?
I will be flying DEN-LHR on UA and then from LHR-NBO-EBB on KQ. I really do not want to have to clear customs and then check-in again at LHR for my KQ flight.
I spoke with United, and they said they have a baggage agreement with Kenya, does this mean I can check in in Denver for my LHR-NBO-EBB flights? Or am I going to have to go through a huge mess at Heathrow?

UA will be able to check baggage through to the final KQ destination, but not sure whether they can issue boarding passes for KQ. Since KQ isn't in the Star Alliance it may be less likely but carriers often do have other bilateral agreements. If not, you would have to stop at the transit desk at LHR.
Whether you have a boardiing pass for KQ or not, you still have to clear security at LHR which can be slow at busy periods. And you're only permitted one piece of carry-on baggage departing LHR (or anywhere in the UK). If you have more than one piece, which UA may permit on the first flight (e.g. briefcase, laptop, shopping bag, purse etc) if you can't fit them both into the larger bag they'll force you to check one before you before you can clear secuirity.

Good to know.
What is this "transit desk"? Does that mean I do not need to go out to where all of the originating pax check in?
It had slipped my mind for a second that I would need to change terminals and clear security anyway...but this IS LHR.
Good to know that only one bag is allowed through. I will have to keep that in mind. Perhaps I will be able to check in in DEN for my KQ flight at the NW desk since NW and KQ are partners and KLM owns 1/4 of KQ?

No you don't have to clear immigration/customs and check in again. After you deplane from UA follow the signs that read "Flight Connections". UA uses Terminal 3 and KQ uses Terminal 4 so you'll have to take the connecting bus to T4. You clear security after you arrive at T4 and the transit desks are somewhere after the security checkpoint. Since KL also uses T4 the same one probably handles both.
