Oh rats... so now there's going to be even less space for my legs on LH longhaul, because I doubt they'll have a system without those awfully annoying boxes below the seats... ... with the almost non-existant pitch that LH has in Y-class, this is going to make travelling with them even worse.
... unless, of course, they've managed to get rid of those damn boxes... or they'll improve their pitch, though I very much doubt the latter - we're talking about self-loading-cargo (Y-class pax) here anyhow...

Quoting Aerosol (Reply 11): The world is goig to end - LH will PTVs in eco! We can close down this site!
What I don't really get from this article is if ALL long haul aircraft will get PTV's. I can understand that the 744's for example won't get them, as they don't have that long life left in the fleet (with the arrival of the a380's and later the 748's). The a330's and a346's on the other hand most likely do.

they can go "EK-style" ... .....actually, just flew cattle class on EK's B773 yesterday .....
fortunately I had an exit row ...but their seat pitch is still much better than most carriers, and I would rather take EK's narrower seats and more generous seat pitch over a wider seat and less seat pitch...
....maybe LH should go 9-across on their A340's and increase their seat pitch
Quoting BA (Reply 14): PTVs have become less important for me now as I've grown up, but still, this is definitely a good move by LH.
I still like to have some on board entertainment, especially the various maps and cameras......

LH did upgrade them with the new Business Class seat so we'll see. The 744's will leave the fleet before any of the Airbuses therefore I doubt that all of the 744's will be upgraded rather only the newer ones that were introduced between the mid 90s until the year 2000.
However what took LH so long to introduce PTV's in Y class?

I definitely think they should. I recently had a flight with them to Manila on the A346. Legroom was some of the worst I have experienced on a major carrier. It seems like the nature notely the buttom edge of the new Recaro-seats makes it impossible for tall people like me to stretch the legs underneath the seat in front.
On the last leg of my return flight I had the pleasure of flying one of the old A300-600 from FRA -> CPH. Legroom was awesome! Wish LH could go back to those old seats in economy. It is so much more comfortable. Add PTV's + wifi of course!
