The concourses that are open need renovations also, that airport used to be so nice for it's size. I remember when DL had DC-8-64's in there and TWA had 707s back when I was 4 or 5 years old I thought thatg was the biggest airport in the world . Now it's an RJ wonderland.

I think this is great news, who they attract, I really don't know. I always have thought Dayton was an airport that could be a decent midwestern hub like in the days of Piedmont/US Air.

Who could they attract?
This is an interesting question....
B6 is already working on a successful operation over at CMH, some of which may be counting on Dayton area traffic...can't see that one. If they were to start a midwestern hub, I would see it more likely at CMH rather than DAY mostly because of the size.
WN is in the same boat - already a pretty good operation at CMH, can't see them splitting off.
FL is already at DAY
DL apparently already pulls quite a bit of traffic away from CVG (which ironically goes right back and connects through CVG). I wonder if they would expand their operation at DAY in the new D concourse.
G4 wouldn't be a bad option, as they have very little presence in the area.
F9 already serves in DAY
NW, UA, AA, CO, and US all have their standard RJ runs to the hubs going from DAY, I can't see a case where any of them are looking for any type of significant expansion.

I don't know if Allegiant would go into there mainly because there would be a response from AirTran, IMO. The only route they would fly is out to LAS on a regular basis and I think AirTran would retaliate.
I was wondering the same thing - who would they be targeting? Good to see DAY get some rehabilitation money, but why aren't other airports who could use it included? I wrote the state and am seeking their rationale but I doubt I'll hear anything back. The only thing I can hope for, is they dole out some money to other regional airports each year, if not, TOL will continue to suffer from lack of revenue.

DAY has slim pickings when it comes to new LCC's so they may expect increased service from FL. Perhaps US could move its gates to Concourse D once the renovation is complete then FL could use former US gates on Concourse C for future expansion. If FL's BMI/MKE/MLI-LAS flights are successful, look for FL to add LAS flights from other cities. DAY-LAS could probably support a daily roundtrip. Also, the HP-US merger could benefit DAY in the near future with PHX service.

Maybe this explains how Skybus is going to get their super low fares - nonstop CMH-DAY for $4. And they'll sell ya the $10 of stuff while you're on board.

I was there a few weeks ago & it's still in good shape. They have LCD screens for flight info & at each gate & the interior of the terminals still appear nice.

Well, I thought I saw in a thread on here that AZO is a rumored destination from CMH. Anything can happen, I guess.

Great to see that while roads in NW Ohio go unexpanded/unimproved, Taxin' Ted has extra money to throw at DAY. He must've gotten a lot of votes there last fall.
No reason why DAY couldn't replicate the success at CAK. CAK got a federal grant to support startup of CAK-LGA, but didn't need to draw on the grant after month 2.

What about Virgin America? Could it fit into their timing for operations start up?
Could fit into the timing, but not the business plan. They are starting in large markets.
