Just took a moment to look through some of these. Why did the crew on the helios flt 522 do nothing, as was inferred for 15 minutes?

Air Transat Flight 236 Glider

Still an amazing story, as well as the windshield pop on on the Bac-111.

What were the causes of UA 585 and El Al 1862? And when was the EL AL incident?

THanks for posting.

The UA 585 incident was believed to have been a jammed rudder actuator, but it was a cold case until the next year when USAir 427 happened on approach to PIT. The EL AL incident was caused by a loss of control by the PIC after the engines on the starboard wing broke away. The EL AL crash happened on 14OCT92.

Of the above, the Überlingen tragedy video (B757 vs Tu-154) really made my jaw drop. I've researched the disaster before, but this representation of it was extremely immersing IMO.

Also, did I misunderstand, or did the Captain of the BA 1-11 actually survive that ride?

Thanks for sharing, and may those who lost their lives in the above tragedies rest in peace.

Yes he did survive. An hour long documantary was made of this remarkable incident and the Captain declined the opportunity to be on the program. The first officer and the steward did appear in the program.

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwkD3kQba7I

This one had a twist I didn't know about. Apparently, the crew evacuated safely only to realised they were in the middle of a field of mines ! They deserve every honour they've received !

Alright, this is highly interesting, but makes me thinking/kinda sad at the same time. My previous wording and the smiley wasn't appropriate, I'm sorry.

The crash of the Iran Air Airbus and the KL 747 still make one sick to the stomach.

Stupidity, arrogance and military bombast to the max.

I hope this never happens again.

Mass murder & suicide committed by the co-pilot. This fact is not officially acknowledged by the Egyptians due to the cultural taboo against suicide in Islam.

National Geographic disappoints me. Bad actors, bad graphics, terrible background music, false dialog (not in accordance with accident reports) and supid comments. Why can't they just follow the transcripts instead of transforming these terrible accidents into tabloid "best selling" drama.

Anyone have a copy of the documentary "Crash of the Century: Tenerife", the 1hr+ show on the Tenerife disaster that they could send me. Tried through Veoh but the Veoh Player caused major system crashes until I managed to remove it so I can't go that route. If anyone has it in another format and could send it to me or something, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Tim
