Daily Times in Pakistan Reports:

2 PIA planes collide

KARACHI: A PIA flight PK-366 operating on the Karachi-Islamabad route was delayed after its wing hit the tail of another Boeing 777-300 while it was being pushed back to take off for Islamabad. The tail of the other Boeing suffered minor damage and was towed to the hanger for repairs. The repair work will be completed Sunday, a PIA spokesman said Saturday. The Boeing 777-300 whose wing hit the tail of the other Boeing took off for Islamabad after some delay.

Staff report adds: While the first Boeing’s wing was lightly hit, the other’s auxiliary power unit (APU) was damaged. app

Ouch to PIA, they only have two 77W's at the moment!

It apears the 773ER with the damaged wing was repaired afew hours after the incident and is back in service for now. The 2nd aircraft is awaiting spare parts for the tail cone.

I presume that this would be there fault here. The planes will repaired and returned to service.

IIRC, there was another incident involving a PIA 777 at Manchester. The wing clipped the tail of a FlyBE Dash8 Q400. These unfortunate accidents will happen from time to time, and PIA has just been unlucky.

I wouldn't go that far, planes clip each other everywhere everyday. We don't even know whose fault it was at this point so calling them a disgrace is going kinda far.

So, does PK use the 777 on Karachi - Islamabad route as a domestic flight, or is it part of an international flight with a halt at Islamabad (like AI does in India)?

I don't think this incident can be hold against PIA and tell them they're a disgrace. This kind of things happen too often to many airlines around the world, so I would cut some slack to PIA before starting a bashing party here........

Slightly off topic, but another reason to not let Swissport take up more ops in New Zealand as NZ were trying to do with their Ground Crew.

Facetiousness probably more than sarcasm, but humour never-the-less and easily identified as such given recent activity with PK triple-sevens in the UK.

Totally agree. PIA are a good airline and they have some problems at the moment. There is nothing wrong with their 777's and it was just bad luck. Hopefully they can sort out the other 777 and get back in the air again. Also hopefully PIA will sort out its other problems. Good luck to them and their staff.

But two brand new state-of-the-art 777-300ER's, that's REALLY bad luck. Much like what happened with the cricket team at the World Cup against your country.
