The in-flight service on America West is great.

First Class Cabin
Coach Cabin
All fares are lower than the competition.

Meals are served on longer flights.

Video and Audio entertainment are available.

Last time I checked, America West only spent about 1.40 per passenger on food. American is around 7.75. But, America West has primarily short distance flights.
Southwest spends less then $1, as you might expect. Video and Audio entertainment are available on longer flights, but not on anything shorter than 3 hours or that general range (as is the case with most airlines). I would sure hope that in-flight service is improving, because I have had some less than lovely experiences.

All fares are lower than the competition? It didn't take long to refute that. In most cases, fares are the same on competing airlines, as airlines tend to match fares when they compete directly. However, on at least one route HP is far from the cheapest... WN offers a fare SAN-STL at a savings of more than $40 over HP. It may not be a major, but it is competition. I don't mean to put you down, but let's not post untrue claims on here... that just hurts our credibility.

I'm sorry I really wasn't including Southwest. I was talking about airlines that offer <> of the same service as America West, including First Class, meals (which America West does serve), movies and music.
I really can't figure out what you, Charles802, were arguing with referring to my earlier post. I gave the facts that America West has a first class cabin, offers meals, movies and music... which they do! I wasn't comparing them to American, which you did...
Somebody asked a simple question about America West and I gave them a simple answer, so I really don't understand why you had to argue the truth. America West may not spend as much money as American, but regardless of the price, meals are offered. Also, are you including international flights on American? Because I'm pretty sure more money would be spent on international flights than domestic flights... just curious. Domestic flights on America West are the same as other carriers too... other carriers don't offer meals on short flights, don;t play movies on short flights... I'm finished... sorry if I upset somebody.

What is the shortest flight that AW serves a meal on? I know that they surely don't on some of the dinner time JFK-PHX flights...the movies and music...do they show movies or tv shows on short flights of about 2 hrs.? Or do they have audio on flights as short as 45 mins.?

I appologize if I offended you. I thought my point was rather clear. Now remember this is only my opinion, and maybe I haven't flown enough to really know. I average about 6 flights a year on America West, although it used to be more. I was simply disagreeing with the quoted statement. How about saying that the in-flight service is at or above industry standard, rather than saying it is "great".
There seem to be plenty of people who don't agree with that. And my other point was that, although you said America West serves meals, and offers entertainment, it is a rather small percentage of flights, (perhaps slightly smaller then most airlines) that have that.
The way you wrote it was just a tiny bit misleading in its implications, especially since you were responding to someone who doesn't know much about HP.

If you fell I have misrepresented America West myself, then please correct anything I say. I do note that the F/As tend to be very friendly.

I appologize for the last post. It was uncalled for. I did double check what you said, and you did state that meals are served on LONGER flights. And if you think the service on America West is great, then that is all the better for you.
