New and expanded customs facilities and an incentive program now in place, it makes you wonder if they are gunning for Lufthansa, British Airways of restoration of AA London service. Not that I think it would necessarily work, but it would be interesting to see a carrier give it another go.

Yes, although I'm pretty sure that's more of a certainty than a rumor. More than a few sources have confirmed that it went down that way. In fact, it was supposed to be announced twice, once with CMH and one other time. Apparently Lambert officials at that time were not willing to give into what were considered to be crazy demands.

Nah. STL is a good excuse for AA to capitalize on more passengers flying AA in connecting and filter them through ORD or DFW and send them over to Europe. I'm sure the O/D is there for a daily flight but as long as this is a secondary hub for AA, people will just be send through the other hubs. Ryanair though would be a distinct possibility.

International service with AA is extremely doubtful IMO. Dictator Daily pressured AA a while back for wanting them to decrease service at ORD and increase service at STL. Well, we all know how that turned out, so I say chances of this are a snow balls chance near an AA 767 engine run up.
I still doubt Jet Blue very much. From what I've heard here at A.net and around the ramp at STL, the mentioned incentives would only be a part of what Jet Blue wanted to begin with.

i wouldn't be surprised to see AirTran take advantage of these incentives. they'll add points in Florida and then everyone will go ga ga over how they are going to hub here. when the incentives are gone, AirTran will see they can no longer make a quick buck and bail the hell out.
nothing in it for American to invest in long term. it might bring back the second daily to Las Vegas if there is a cut off date or not as to "expanded scheduled service would entail." a possible remote chance of Portland Oregon coming into the system. everything else would be dependant upon Eagle or Connection try-outs or additions.

airline typically doesnt make knee jerk reactions into markets or go with temporary planned service, but it's a clear signal it's hoping they'll connect St. Louis nonstop to Philadelphia or at the very least ... Pittsburgh.

could also stand to benefit with the addition of flights. but since they are a privately owned airline, i wonder how much risk they are willing to take. perhaps another additional flight into Ft. Myers or St. Pete. they did already try Ft. Lauderdale once before...

perhaps they got the memo that American dumped one flight a day into Las Vegas. however, St. Louis is not one of their srongest stations.
