Whatever Happened To N534US?

I am flipping through my photo albums as I browse the Forum. I came across a picture of a Northwest 757 with the aforementioned reg #. I believe I shot it in fall of 1997. Only it was an offshoot of the normal NW livery. It did not have the graduated blue stripe nor the red top. It also has the Northwest logo (the N/W surrounded by a circle) painted rather largely on the forward fuselage.
I was just wondering if that plane is still flying around in that livery, or if it's been repainted. Was that another one of NW's bungled attempts at a revised livery, or was there some other reason behind it?

The color scheme on N534US was an experimental color scheme, which failed, and the current Northwest livery was the new livery.

Here's a DC-9-50, N787NC with a different experimental scheme. I'm not sure what N787NC is like now. It probably had the experimental scheme removed and had the standard scheme painted on it.

And, here's a pic of N534US taken a year after the first pic of N534US showing that the scheme was removed and the regular scheme is on it.

Looking at those other ideas, I reckojn they made a poor final choice...

The one on the DC-9 has a refreshing simplicity to it and avoids the top-heaviness of their current colours.

I agree. The experimental liveries are far better. Too bad.
