I saw what looked like a US Airways airbus do a go around at DFW today at approx. 10:00. Anyone else see this or know what happened? Thanks.

Looks like maybe it was this guy...

Probably for traffic, guy ahead not clearing in time; could be almost anything...

Obviously being a WN employee you are just covering for the fact that it was obviously interference cause by traffic operations at DAL.

Go arounds happen pretty often, it could have been traffic, coming in too fast or too high. Not uncommon to see..
Actually I saw 4 seperate planes do go arounds in 20 mins at LAX on Wednesday; very windy.

Go big or go home

WOW...settle down a little...geeez. No need to get on his case! You need to stop watching your anime at get outside more. Obviously you've got a lot against Southwest but don't take it out on the employee. Traffic still on the runway is a big factor in a pilot executing a Go-Around, another would be that they weren't on a stabilized approach or maybe the wind changed to a tail wind. Who knows, but maybe we should just go and close MDW, EWR, JFK, SFB, FLL, OAK and any other airports that serve the same metro area as another large airport.

Here's my take on it.........who cares about a go around? I really can' t believe the number a.netters that post things about a go around.

Let us take a look at the reason for a possible go around.....traffic on the runway didn't clear in time, someone crossed the runway when told to hold short, the crew might have missed a landing clearance, maybe when they put the gear down at 1,400' they didn't get 3 in the green and flew down the runway as other traffic didn't allow for a turn out before flying down the entire runway, or maybe it was a flight making practice approaches from PHL! Geez.....stop the madness of simple things and playing media hysteria!  Smile

Can't wait to get the javelin shots for this post

Hey! You forgot that the "interfering" flight path of that DAL-bound SWA jet went right over highway 114 at 500' AGL and caused the DFW guy on short final to go-around....  Yeah sure

You can attribute that to my bottle of Rosemont Shiraz and some lovely pasta tonight we had!  Smile

Oh wait...I think it was actually the 18R arrival that got confused by the SWA jet with the SHAMU paint who was departing DAL and turning east at 500' and the DFW arrival got really confused thinking they had missed DFW and made it all the way to SEAWORLD or to Hawaii and it was whale watching season...when actually they were really over HWY 183 on final to 35C, just passed the AA HQ building and got total disoriented while a LIVE.ATC a.netter listener keyed into their HP, FAA approved ATC go around scanner and told the crew, GO AROUND!

Damn, you're good!

I'm glad that we now have an answer to the mystery...  Wink

But let us not forget that it was AA who started all the WN bashing when they kept having their pilots roll out long on the runways for force WN to do go-arounds to burn more gas.

No javelin shots from me--I agree completely!!

(It's kinda like "I saw a car turn right on the way to work this morning." Anyone know why?

Or, "I noticed an airplane clear the runway on the T-1 taxiway, anyone know why he didn't use T-2?"

Are you saying that a company policy at AA asked the group to do that? I find that extremely hard to believe, in fact totally insane for a company to do that......guess I'll have to ring up an AA pal and ask!

Do you think you'd actually find something like that in writing?

No I don't that is why I am going to ask the question....but from your post it sounds as if there was a push by someone which I just find hard to believe!

And, how did AA get into the thread other than me joking about passing by their HQ on approach, and that was a complete and total post for laughs.

As suggested in a few SDs, and right here in the thread.

Go Around happen - every day. And this thread has run it's course.
