Virgin Atlantic is close to ordering 6 A3XXs. The current number of A3XX orders stands at 44. This could trigger the super jumbos's launch before the end of the year  ! The order will contain 6 firm orders and 6 options. “We are in the final throes of negotiations,” Branson told the Daily in an interview this week.

Seems already that Airbus would be in trouble if they wouldn´t build the A3XX....
The market wants it and I´m shure they will launch it. Hopefully the timetable won´t be affected too much ( in service 2005 ).

Great job, sir Richard!

Although not a surprise this i s another proof that A3XX is on great bird! Love to fly on it (with or without showers ))
The livery also looks awsome.

Well it's been in the rumor pipeline for some time, so it was only a matter of time before it was confirmed (as with the QANTAS order).

If ILFC and Emirates do decide to exchange options for firm orders or add to the orders thereof, the A3XX program could be triggered into an early launch.

Fantastic news I must say. Richard's always been a forward thinker and I've admired his style for quite some time. Those capacity issues he mentions in the article would be appeased quite well, and the gym/casino is definately in line with Richard's usual thinking, I mean they've got the bar and massages already. Probably the A3XX would go on the LHR-JFK route first, that's a really popular route, but load factors out of LAX and SFO are very high as well I've heard.

Kai

Oh look! Singapore buys A3XX, now Virgin does. "A match made in heaven!" Richard Branson December 1999.

I suppose Virgin will be introducing all the frills they are well-known for. Good for them! Good for SIA!!

I guess that Branson is that kind of person who will always find on how to use his property.
He can open new routes, he can lease them...

I'm sure that Virgin won't go bancrupt!

B777-200LR, when this order is confirmed they will have 50. They have 44 now because Emirates added 2. There is also talk about ILFC increasing their order!

OH-LGA,
I'm sorry mate, but are your "rose tinted" sunglasses for sale?? (Casino/gym) GET A GRIP MAN !!
As has been said before, this will be a "mass" people carrier, not a luxury liner.
The A3xxx will HAVE to make money.
This will not happen with people wandering around using the gym and casino etc.
If the purchasing airlines decide to use these "facilities"......OHHHHHHH,,,,,,your gonna PAYYYY!!
3-4-3 config....an INCH or two more legroom...and that will be IT!!!
As much as we all "love" Branson,.....he will not be running a charity.THIS IS BUSINESS!!!!
