Hi guys...!

Just to let you know... AeroMéxico is ready to fly to Seattle... Operations start next July 3rd in a GDL-MEX-SEA and returning the next day in a SEA-MEX-GDL.

If I am correct... its AM 670 Northbound and 671 Southbound.

Operating in a daily basis with a 737...

Comments always welcome!!

It is true. The flight is already bookable. I'm pleasantly surprised, because after a series of many "let's apply for routes we aren't going to fly" applications, this one is happening:

AM 670 MEX 1800-2135 SEA 73G Daily
AM 671 SEA 0830-1540 MEX 73G Daily

Excellent news! I just updated Wikipedia. SeaTac has had a great year! Not to get off topic, but what would the feasibility be of an LH flight to MUC?

Congrats to both AM and Seattle.

Who hoo!!

Very risky venture, but hope the flight does good... if AM offers a good introductory fare (something around US$200) I am willing to visit SEA for a weekend...

Excellent news for SEA! We'll see how AeroMexico does on the route - I've been a little doubtful of how flights from SEA-Mexico (other than the resorts, of course) would do. Now I'll get my chance to see.

It certainly has been a great year for SEA (and PDX for that matter!). And I should point out that AM is the second new SkyTeam carrier in SEA this year (AF being the other, of course).

Well SEA is a big city with many Hispanic residents. The flight should do well. Congrats to AM and SEA.

(IAD should be next)

When is AM announcing flights/times for MEX-MSP, v.v.? They applied for DOT rights to both MSP and SEA in the same filing a couple of months ago. Any insight?

I just went to AM website and the fare I found was around $440USD. I agree about the risk of this venture. Hopefully the do fine. Seattle is really a beautiful city!

Best Regards,

There's a separate thread dedicated to MSP-MEX. The consensus seems to be that AM is unlikely to fly this route any time soon. Remember, AM was authorized to serve SCK and DTW well before they were authorized to serve MSP, and AM hasn't started service to either city yet.

Mexicana has been flying to Portland for over a year now I believe with PDX-GDL-PDX service. Non stop
Mexico City service commences in June or July.

I wish Aeromexico success in this venture but I also believe it is risky since SEA is one of the most expensive airports in the US.

Low fares will not make it happen there.

It seems like another BOS venture to me.

Seconded. I don't think the route will last.

They have had mixed results with recent destinations. Boston and Austin have performed poorly. San Antonio has done well, and their second attempt at Ft. Lauderdale has been a strong performer. Then they put Toronto, Detroit, and Philadelphia into reservation systems, but didn't start any of them.

Great for AM, it was just a matter of time before AS started the route. Can someone give a summary of all the flights/airlines that SEA has gained this year and when service starts? It will be long.

If so, they would probably want to fly to EAT (WENATCHEE, WA).  Wink Check out the Apple Blossom Festival. We don't have too many apple farms on the west side of the Cascades.

AS seems to do well routing their flights SEA-LAX-MEX, so we'll see! Can't wait to get a picture of that shining 73G over the tunnel (which, btw, has an old pair of wings sitting on top of it now that light up at night.. pretty cool).I might have to take a trip down to Mexico.. haven't been in a few years. Best of luck to them!

I wish AeroMexico the very, very best on this new route. It's so nice to see Mexican carriers expanding in more places of the US. After all, Hipanics one of the largest minorities in the US and are predominant in many cities of the West. I also forsee a good future for AM in SEA as perhaps they might be able to Code-share with NW using SkyTeam to may be tag-on flight numbers to Asia, although NW presence is not the biggest in SEA the still have a mini-hub so that might help AM out on this venture.

I don't think this is a very risky route for AM. I just don't see why the route wouldn't do well. I see comparisons to BOS, totally diferent markets.

I wonder why they don't red-eye it back to MEX. You'd think there would be a market for arriving early in the morning at MEX rather than wasting a day on a plane. I imagine it would also make sense for AM to increase the utilization of that aircraft rather than parking it for half a day in SEA.
