Which airlines uses the call sign "Pelican". I ve checked the usual lists and cant find it.
It sounded like a Russian accent so my guess is its an AN124 operator.
The Flight was Pelican 8602Heavy into JFK, but I cant find a record of the operator.

No, I'm pretty sure thats what it was, as the controller repeated the call sign for the readback.
Is there an AN-124 at JFK right now? It landed approx 5pm EST 26Apr

Can't find anything on Flightaware - perhaps if you can point to a specific time in the LiveATC.net archives when you hear this, I could take a closer listen.
EDIT: Found it. It's "White Pelican", not "Pelican". "White Pelican" is CargoItalia. I've seen them only once by the Korean Air Cargo area - they must be pretty new to JFK. As for what type of plane, it could either be a 767, MD-11 or 747 - my memory of it isn't very good.
The voice, therefore, is Italian, not Russian. Which makes sense, as it didn't sound very Russian to me.
EDIT #2 (more than ASF on the pull): Apparently, my memory was pretty bad, as CargoItalia flies DC-10s:
