RJ To Move To T9 At JFK?

Now that RJ has joined One World, is there any chance of them moving to the new American terminal at JFK? T4 is going to be tighter than ever this summer, and T9 will most likely have room although RJ's A340 does have a long layover at JFK...Anyone hear anything about this?

OneWorld members Iberia, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, JAL, Qantas, Finnair, Royal Jordanian, LAN, and Malev all serve JFK and only Malev and Finnair use Terminal 8.

While I agree it would be a cool idea if all of OneWorld was operating under Terminal 9 but it would not work for British Airways and I don't see why others would move.

I would not count on Royal Jordanian moving to Terminal 9 since they just moved from Terminal 3, unless you have heard differently.

However I believe Terminal 1 is nearing capacity and things must be slightly better at Terminal 4 with Swiss now at Terminal 1.

I did not say anything about all of OneWorld operating from Terminal 9...

I still think that some T1 airlines will move out for the summer...Unless Swiss changes their schedules a bit, there will be a time when they have three aircraft on the ground at once. T1 could barely get by as is;

I am aware you didn't. However I was just stating it would be a cool idea.  Wink

Doesn't Swiss currently have 3 aircraft on the ground all at once? I know at Terminal 4 there was usually 2 at gates and one on a remote stand.

I'll third these observations. When I was at T1 for international rush a month ago, the gates were more or less constantly full between 2pm--8pm. There were also a few a/c parked remotely. On the first visit, there were three Swiss A330's there at once!

I've got a theory for this. JFK is the only point they serve in the USA so they have to be housed along with AA so MA and AY flights can connect to/from as many AA flights as posible. Using another Terminal would increase the minimum connection time.

For RJ, I see their natural fit at T7 with the rest of oneworlders to share check-in, sales and lounges. I expect this to change soon but they currently have a codeshare agreement with US, also in T7.
