Hi!

I just received and email from Wizz Air telling me that BBU will be closed due to construction from May 10 to July 31 (or maybe longer?!). All flights will be resassigned to OTP.
Now I am wondering why this has not been mentioned or known earlier, especially considering that Wizz Air e.g. has just started service to DTM and BCN recently. Not that I will mind flying out of a bigger, more interesting airport, but it does seem odd to me, that they did not seem to know this beforehand. And eight days notice does seem to be rather little.
Anyway, I wonder if Wizz Air and the other LCCs will be compensated for to the higher fees at OTP. I mean, they are losing a lot of money on me and my three friends, since we paid 0 RON for our tickets...

I would consider BBU much more interesting than OTP. Besides that it is closer to the city, you actually pass BBU on the way from OTP to down town.

They have a bunch of interesting old aircraft at BBU, whereas OTP is just a faceless underused facitlity.

On the other hand, I would not worry about Wizzair's finances as long as they fly you back safely.

It's interesting that you have only got the information now. I remember reading a Wizzair press release more than a month ago about the switch to OTP for a certain period.

You are right. I checked the new bus connection and it does pass BBU.
I have been to many new LCC airports in Eastern Europe now, which are interesting, but I do like a nice "regular" one once in a while.

@Ushermittwoch

take a taxi but only the ones who look like a Caddy. You pay about € 14,00 - be careful with the guys who offer "Taxi" when you leave customs. You may end up with € 50,00

I would not go public transport in that city, it could be the most exepnsive mode transport.  Cool

Don't be surprised for it to become permanent - my understanding is that BBU may well be developed on as an attractive piece of real estate in the city and all flights moved to OTP

Just when I thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, it was some B*****d with a torch bringing me more work
