TAM announced that they will begin weekly fights between Salvador and Paris every Thursday, with their A332 (42C 171Y), improving the ties between Northeast of Brazil and Europe.
This will be the only regular flight from SSA to CDG, in addition of the weekly service REC-CDG (on Fridays).
Due to this, TAM will not offer anymore their JJ8098 and JJ8099 on Thursdays also. This flight will run from Saturday to Wednesdays only effective August 9th 2007.
The new time table for SSA-CDG service (eff. August 9th 2007):
This is another option for Europeans to reach SSA, a place that keep regular services also from MAD, LIS and FRA. It's also the top destination for charters (MAN, LHR, MXP, LIS and many others).

I wonder if AF is still planning to start flights to a city in northeast Brazil, such as REC or SSA.

I know TP flies from LIS to SSA. Which airlines offer scheduled service from FRA and MAD to SSA? How often do these flights operate, and what type of aircraft is used?

Air Europa - UX083/084 - 1640LT MAD - 2035LT SSA 2220LT - MAD 1155LT - 763 - 3x weekly
Condor - DE3076/3077 - 1020LT FRA - 1605LT SSA 1755LT - FRA 0920LT - 763 - 1x weekly
Nowadays twice weekly and will become 3x weekly very shortly.

They have plans for REC (because of strong historical ties) but nowadays they are not allowed to do this because of the lack of frequencies. AFAIK there are discussions nowadays about a new increase on the billateral, and it should be decided very soon.

Probably if they run a GIG-MIA with 2 planes, it should be from this daylight.
