Hi,

Good to see them expand. I guess they are holding their own against the "big boys" of the Gulf. Maybe Muscat isn't a priority for Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar? There was also talk on another thread that they'll be getting 332s. Anyone know when those are due?

Cheers,
Imad

They are undergoing some major changes. There was a special about them on Middle East Business Report on BBC a few weeks ago. Indications are that in a few years they aim to be a bigger, leaner operation with support from the government.

Good routes choice, as none of the above has international airlinks with the Middle East.

Air India operates triangle flight on Lucknow - Delhi - Jeddah - Lucknow.

This is a year-round 3 weekly A310 service.

AI also have 1-stop flight to Dubai year round as well

The first A 332 route should be MCT-LHR and the flight must connect with CGP both ways as it has a lot of potential as no Arab/EU airline flies there and pax will pay a small premium flying straight into CGP rather than some local airline via DAC.

Good news for WY, up until now Thai was the only real int'l airline flying into CGP (Bangladesh's 2nd largest city). Now if we could get them back to East Africa  yes   twocents

Airlines have tried in the past to get into these restricted markets only to be turned down, or not getting decent frequencies.

IIRC AI 747 uses the A310, making it Air India.

Many Middle Eastern airlines are begging to start flights to CGP, but the Bangladesh government resisted because they wanted to keep it exclusively for BG. It's nice they had a change of heart. Hopefully more airlines will follow.

And with Oman Air expanding, will they eventually drive out GF from Muscat too? It looks like GF will be flag carrier for Bahrain!.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Oman Air 'replace' GF in Muscat. GF's main base of operation is out of Manama anyway (correct me if I'm wrong), so with time Oman Air might be the dominant carrier at Muscat. Also, I read on another thread that GF isn't in the best of situations trying to compete with the likes of Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar.

Cheers,
Imad

This is also not true for JAI. IC has a JAI-DXB flight.

Jaipur also gets Air Arabia from Sharjah.

Chittagong service brings them back to Bangladesh, where they served Dhaka previously.

Oman Air is the first foreign airline to serve Lucknow.
