United #1 Stopping At SFO Today

Anyone know wht UA 1 is stopping in SFO and not going non-stop ORD-HNL today? United.com shows it here for 30 minutes.

United's website indicates Aircraft servicing(might be a mechanical problem of some type).

Looks like they had a Flow Control Valve problem with one of the packs that was fixed at SFO. IIRC both packs are req. on ETOPS flights.

Well at least the plane got to SFO safely. I'm sure that it had nothing to do with the fueling services at HNL.

From another posts, it sounds like it was a non critical piece of equipment that is not necessary for flight within the 48 states, but because the flight is ETOPS, they have to have extra equipment and more things servicable. I think it is pretty nifty how they did a quick stop in SFO where they have the maintenance available.


If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!
