Am I correct in saying that UA is the only US airline with a crew base in Europe? (LHR)

UA and NW probably have bases at NRT?

I think but i could be wrong that AA has a crew base at LHR too. Also UA may have a crew base at FRA. A while ago I also think TWA had a crew base at CDG that may or may not still be the case.

Just curious,

Are you asking about Pilot crew bases or Flight attendant crew bases ? The reason I ask is because there are numerous foreign baes for flight attendants who work for US carriers. BKK, SIN, SEL, NRT, CDG, FRA, LHR, are fairly popular flt attendant bases.

United has international F/A bases in:
Europe
London
Paris
Frankfurt

Asia
Tokyo
Hong Kong
Taipei
Bangkok*
Singapore*

South America
Santiago

*These bases employ "foreign national" flight attendants, who, by law, aren't allowed to touch American soil. They operate many of the intra-Asia flights, and wear different uniforms than 'regular' United flight attendants (same style, only in a grey tweed-ish fabric).

United's foreign nationals based in LHR operate to ORD & JFK. Where did you get your info about them not operating to the US?

I know NW has crew bases at the following foreign cities:
AMS
NRT
BKK
MNL
KIX
HKG
TPE

and possibly
SIN
SEL
PEK
SHA

NWA Man

BTW...most NW pilots (and pilots for other US majors) are US citizens, which makes it somewhat unlikely that foreign cities can be pilot bases for US airlines.

Ambasaid, if you read my post once again, you'll see that only Bangkok and Singapore are bases with foreign national flight attendants.

London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Santiago have flight attendants which are allowed to operate flights to the United States.

Matter of fact, LHR flight attendants fly to LAX, SFO, ORD, JFK, EWR, and IAD. CDG flight attendants fly to LAX, SFO, ORD, and IAD. FRA flight attendants fly to SFO, ORD, and IAD. SCL flight attendants operate to MIA. NRT flight attendants operate to SEA, SFO, LAX, ORD, JFK, SIN, HKG, SEL, PEK and PVG. HKG flight attendants operate to SIN, BKK, NRT, SFO, LAX, and ORD (soon to be to JFK, as well). TPE flight attendants fly to SFO. SIN flight attendants fly to NRT, HKG, and BKK. BKK flight attendants fly to NRT, HKG, and SIN.

To sum it up again for you, Ambasaid, all foreign-based flight attendants, with the exception of Bangkok and Singapore, can operate flights to U.S. soil.

Bangkok and Singapore are the only to domiciles with "foreign national" flight attendants, which cannot operate to U.S. soil.
