Sometimes going through the photodatabase I run into some amazingly beautiful aircraft in flight.
I am particularly partial to this picture because it shows off my hometown. Plus it shows how close Sky Harbor is to downtown Phoenix too. Take note of all of the construction. That will be a 1000' extension to RWY 8, making it a full 12,000' long. Plus they are rebuilding all the taxiways on the north end and repaving the remainder of RWY 8/26 in concrete (instead of the asphalt currently there). Big things are going down at PHX.
Post of nice shot of your home airport and why you feel it is a great place.

DeserJets: I have a question about PHX. Is the new runway open there or not?? I will be flying out of there soon and I want to know if I will have to deal with the usual amount of hold-short delays.
Here's a couple of shots of SDU in Rio de Janeiro.
The first one shows the proximity to the "Centro" or downtown section of Rio, while the second gives you a sense of what it's like on the ground. It's 39 degrees there right now.....you walk out on the tarmac and about 100 metres over to your plane, where you climb the stairs.....all the while taking in the sights, sounds and smells of an airport.
I detest jetways, and the shopping mall atmosphere of "modern" airports, which is why I fly here, instead of GIG....the international airport in the photo below.
Calgary's airport has won several awards over the years for various things............it's currently getting a third gate approximately just at the bottom of the photo.

Aaron... Rwy 7L/25R is now open, has been since October I believe, and is equipped with ILS/DME at both ends. So hopefully ground delays will be reduced. But with the extenstion and reconstruction of 8/26 beginning that maybe only somewhat better.
